Any reason for concern?

Hello, today I noticed what looks like dried up blood below the vent of my snake.

It may be worth mentioning that my snake did not recently shed.

Is this any reason to be concerned?

Possibly a concern, especially if he didn't shed recently (since when the old skin detaches from the sensitive cloacal area it can sometimes bleed a tiny bit).

Can't tell you what, if anything, IS going on though. Potential parasites, or possible that he swallowed some sharp, un-digestible debris that is stuck somewhere in his
GI tract. (what substrate are you using?) Some diseases are also possible...

I have her on coco husk, and she has not eaten for a couple weeks.

As far as not eating for a couple weeks, how old is the snake? More of an issue if young, not if an adult though.

Coco husk shouldn't be any issue if a little is swallowed either...might want to get your snake seen by a vet...for a fecal exam, etc.

She’s about 6months old, I got her 2 months ago @140grams, and she’s now 350 grams.

How are you heating the enclosure and is the substrate kept damp or wet?

If it was just dried blood it should wipe off I'm not sure that will be the case from the pictures. :(

She wiped the blood off herself, and has been fine.
Prior to this photo I was heating the enclosure with an unregulated 100watt CHE and a regulated heating mat.


Now I have added insulating material on 5 sides of my enclosure and 150 watt CHE hooked Up to a herpstat set to 88F and have since discontinued the heat mat.
I’ve also upped the humidity by sealing off all but a 8.5 inch circle on top where my bulb rests.


My room stays around 60-66 degrees, so I figured going with a high power CHE and insulation material was my best bet for reaching ideal temps.
