Also if Connie sees this, in the first pic, do the Siamese usually have splotches of color while they are getting older? Every time I see a Siamese looking like this I keep thinking it has some kind of hooded gene, as I also have a hooded breeder male that could have fathered it. Thanks!

There are actually hooded Siamese, they are called Triamese. I used to have them pop up more often than Siamese even though they are quiet rare.

Most likely, the splotches are just them molting, imo.

Sounds reasonable... but you would see the hooded pattern when they are young as well. Siamese doesn't change the pattern at all. Mine look funny when they go through their first moult, especially on their heads lol. Becky or someone else will prob have a better answer. I've had quite a few hooded siamese in my litters... I can't remember which female throws them off the top of my head.

    Ooo, Crissy quick fingers! Lol

Thanks girls... I rotate my females around so that they can help each other raise their young and I never know who fathered what litter or which babies are from which mom... right now I can't even remember if that first siamese looked like that as a baby or just looked like a normal baby siamese. I'm a bad rat breeder, lol! I have some pics of another male and female that I thought at the time were siamese hoodeds as well...

A couple of Triamese, they are not my rats.

You can clearly see their hooded beige markings throughout their entire lives. Occasionally they fade, but they are pretty obvious if you have a Siamese setting next to a Triamese at any age. :D

    Thanks Connie. :P

I'm going to venture D that those two you posted are hooded agouti siamese. Just because they are faded, but you can see what looks to be a hooded pattern there. Where's Becky when you need her?! :P

Hey Crissy! I'm never sure if it's mink or not, I don't have any that I'm aware of.. I have mink envy... lol

Thanks for the pic, mine look nothing like that!

The other thing is that my hooded male is a beige color? I think? I am horrible at rat colors!
