    Rats....on a leash
Has anyone had any success with making a harness and leash for a jumbo sized rat? On warm days I'll take the dog, brothers, and BP's out on walks but I've always kinda wanted to take one or two of my big girls with one of these days before it gets to cold.

I've used a simple figure 8 harness for rats, the ones that are completely adjustable, just the cord with the clasp and slidey thingy. Petco has them in many of their departments, packaged for cats, ferrets, and lizards. They work pretty well.

My rats wanted nothing to do with a ferret harness and were able to get out the second I put it on.

I used to put Possum(a extremely large male rat) in a figure 8 harness, it seemed to stay on okay.. but then, I never saw him TRY to get out of it. They are rats.. and able to squeeze in and out of amazingly small areas.

I made a similar Harness as the one above (linked). It works surprisingly well. Just remember to allow them to get used to it (walking around the house), before you take them outside with it. :)
