burmese food size

this is a topic i can't get over with my burmese is now 7 months old and is feeding very well but i still have questions regarding the rat when should i size up the rat? I really have no idea she is currently feeding on a medium rat. should i size up or give it 2 instead? sorry i have to post this topic. again.

How large is your Burm and how often are you feeding? Do you have a picture of your snake?

She weighs about 200 gram and a metre long (approx) She is a very active and cunning burm but often goes off feed

She's 200g and eating medium rats? That would be almost half her body weight. I can see why she might go off feed if she's eating such large meals. At that size I'd probably be feeding her 1-2 rat pups per feeding. They're roughly 20-30g each.

Figure 10-15% of her body weight every week until she hits a year old. Burms get fat very easily and you don't want to overfeed them.

Damn.. i will reduce the size of the rat and will switch to rat pups, seems i have done a mistake in caring for this snake. I am really thankful you guys corrected me earlier had i notice this late it will be an obese burmese. Thank you :):):):)

Rat pups will be way too small for a burm unless it is a hatchling, can you get a photo with something for a size comparison, 200 grams in 7 months doesn't sound right especially if you have been feeding medium rats. Burms do a lot of growing in the first couple years and are rarely obese during this time. They tend to start slowing down growth once they reach the 9-10ft and start getting thicker.

For a hatchling I fed 1 mouse every 5-7 days for month or two, 2 mice for the next month and transitioned to small rats months 4 and 5, easily feeding on medium rats by 7 months and on to larges the next couple months, started feeding on baby rabbits when I could get them at the year mark. Of course this was average and depending on feeder size and the snake, I went by look to see that they had a decent size lump after a feeding, that is just what worked for me.

so im on the right track i assume? is it normal for them to skip meal even when little? (i wouldn't worry if a 4 ft snake goes off feed) :P
