Filter water

The water heater pump broke because of hard water buildup got it fix dad help he is now considering getting a water filter of some sort I looked on line about reverse osmosis and other stuff of what I read it’s not good for snake/us on the r.o your thoughts pros and cons of filter water

RO water isn't good because it doesn't have any minerals. So it will often take away minerals and nutrients from the animal. If it's meant for human consumption then minerals will likely be added, which would make it safe for reptiles.

Ok in South Dakota had a salt water softener I haven’t looked online about that yet

A water softener reduces or removes the number of particles (including nutrients and minerals) in the water. So, nutrients may or may not need to be added depending on the filter. I use filtered water for my reptiles and it goes through a carbon, multi-stage, and flouride filter. I then let it sit out so other things could evaporate. They are all designed so they remove unwanted particles, but they still make it safe for drinking.

Something like that should work good. As long as it's safe for human drinking (without adding anything else) then it's fine for reptiles.
