    Congrats on the new snake.

One of your questions was, what happens if you breed a het animal to a normal animal? The answer is, 50% of the offspring will be het...but there will be no way to tell which ones are which until they are bred to prove it, so the entire clutch would be called "50% possible hets".

When you breed two het Axanthics together, you would get 25% Axanthics, and the rest of the clutch would look normal--but only 25% of them would be normal, the rest would be het for Axanthic. So, the normal-looking babies would be called '66% possible hets'.

If you breed an Axanthic to a normal, you would get 100% het animals--all would look normal, but carry the gene.

If you breed an Axanthic to a het Axanthic, 50% would be Axanthic, and the remaining 50% would be 100% het animals.

If you want 50% morphs in a clutch from your normal female, breed her to any dominant or co-dominant animal. There is a LONG list of co-dominant morphs, and a shorter list of true dominant morphs (pinstripe is a true dominant--spider is not, because there are no super-spiders (animals that look like spiders but carry 2 copies of the gene, so would produce 100% spider offspring when bred to a normal).

Here, try this link. It's a Genetic Wizard, helps determine the outcomes of a breeding. I use this quite often in 2x/3x morph breedings...:gj:

    Thanks for all the info!

I picked up a male Pastel today. He is a bit smaller then my female normal but I both are 2009's. The male is probably a few months younger or something.

With a pastel, ypu have a 50% chance at pastels! Here is another great site on genetics: http://www.ballpython.ca/genetics.html

Re: What kinds of morphs can I get from my normal female?
How much am I looking at paying for a female or a female and a male black axanthic or normal axanthics? Would my male pastel and a female axanthic or black axanthic produce anything cool?

Anyone know how much I am looking to pay for a baby female and male Axanthic from a reputable breeder? Where is the best place to get these beautiful animals, i've heard people speak of VPI.

Breeding your male pastel with a female axanthic would give you babies that are either
    Pastel 100% Het Axanthic
    or
    Normal 100% Het Axanthic

If you produced a Male Pastel 100% Axanthic with that pairing you could then breed him back to the Mother Axanthic and possibly produce a Pastel Axanthic

Axanthic Prices: 2010 Pair probably $1000+

does my female BP show any signs of morphs other than normal?
hello everyone, i purchased my first and only BP 2 years ago. she is a female, normal (from what everyone i asked online said) possibly pastel or yellow belly. i took her to a couple shops who said she shows some signs of yellow belly and others said pastel. but when i asked online on facebook on a group specifically for ball pythons (no one there is an expert, they all deal with BP or have been for years so they have some experience IMO) everyone said she is 100% normal. im curious about this as i recently became interested in breeding (did not consider it when i first purchased her as i didnt expect to fall in love with her as i did).
either way, she is still not ready for breeding, she is 961 grams as of two days ago and still has at least another 5-600 grams to add on but i dont want to purchase an adult male when the time comes, so i want to know more about my BP so i can purchase a young healthy male with the morph that i decide on (based on her genetics) and have him grow into adultery by the time she becomes ready hopefully.
i apologize about the super long post, im just confused on what she might be from all i have heard.
any and all help in identifying any possible morphs is appreciated. and thanks to anyone who has something to say in advance!
here are some pictures i've taken of her.
