Question about new baby corn....

Here is the story, my baby corn snake was born on Father's day. It has shed for the first time with no problems, but it won't eat yet. I talked to the breeder, and she said some of the rest of the clutch has eaten, but my little one has not. The breeder did not sound concerned. Should I be? If not, when should I be concerned by? As of June 30 it will be 12 days old. The breeder won't let me bring it home until it has eaten at least twice. Sorry if I sound paraniod, but this is totally new for me.

Sounds like things are OK to me. And if it is still in the breeder's hands, even better. If, in the unlikely event that the baby refuses to ever feed, it is the breeder's responsibility, and not yours. But baby snakes are built to go a long stretch without food. They don't have pinky mice laying around waiting for them to pip out of the egg. ;) They get their initial nourishment from their own egg yolk.

Some babies take a little longer before they show interest in food.All my babies hatched so far this year they all ate within the first or second time offered food.Last year i had 1 out of 12 that refused to eat no matter what i offered it.Will the breeder let you choose another one if this one never eats?

I'd just say work with your cornsnake breeder and depend on her experience. If this baby snake is not going to eat easily, I'm sure she'll know some tricks to get it going or if not, offer you a stronger specimen with a better feeding response.

Yes, if this particular baby does not eat, there are others in the clutch that are the color I want and I can have any of them. Okay, so I won't worry yet. Thank you for the responses, you have made me feel better.
