Custom 3 point branch insert by Ron Rundo (Review)
Despite the appearance, it is not real wood. It's an epoxy branch that looks extremely realistic. It was made by Ron Rundo at https://snakescapes.com/

It's fantastic. But boy did it take a long time to get and cost a lot of money.

There was one flaw and that is the brackets that were included. They were very flimsy in the joints, but I had an acrylic cement that fixed that problem. I recommended that solution to him, so if he switches to that, it may be resolved by next time.

Would I buy it again? Yes.

Time will tell how it holds up, but it should be a lot more durable than the real thing anyway.

I just use real branches...but it looks nice enough & realistic. I just can't imagine paying a lot for such a thing & still have to fix the weak joints.

I like the idea of a form fitted branch specifically for the cages I’m using. I’m sure the cost is likely to deter me though. Looks really nice. For the scrub or an ETB?

Also, my only critique on grounds of realism is that branches don’t grow together like that naturally. I’m a college art professor so things like that generally don’t slip past me but snakes are certainly less critical

I've been considering ordering something from him for one of my future cages so this is helpful!

If you don't mind me asking, roughly how much did you pay (or general price range) and what time frame did you wait? When you say the brackets were flimsy, did they not hold the branches in place very well? Or they did but had a wobble?

For an ETB breeding enclosure. It's a very tight fit, as I gave him the dimensions of the enclosure, obviously.

Yea, I don't know much about trees, but I don't mind artistic liberties, especially to use all of the available space.

If you email him your dimensions, he'll send you a quote quickly.

I ordered it march 25th. It was delayed 3 weeks longer than quoted because covid.

The brackets are three pieces. The base and then two pieces forming a V. The attachment of those two pieces was weak because it looked like he used superglue, instead of an acrylic cement. They actually fit the branch very well because the branch ends are a perfect triangle. It only fits very precisely, making a tight fit.

Late to the party here, but I was looking at ordering these same items from Ron. I am concerned about the use of the PVC glue. How long are the snakes displaced while it dries and fumes dissipate enough to put them back in the enclosure?
