What do you all use as stands for your larger cages, 6 feet or above? It's easy to find coffee tables, desks, aquarium stands, and such for cages in the 4 feet or smaller range, but I'm having trouble finding things for 6 foot cages. Ideas?

    Hello from Maryland!

Hit Lowes or Home Depot for something like this:

I first started using racks with T8's. With the model racks that make two short racks. You can cover the racks with any cloth to match your decor.

    Good luck!

Thanks. I'm assuming the shelving posts are in pieces rather than a static height? Can you make 2 with 3 shelves instead of being forced into a 6 shelf height?

Some do. Find the size cage you need an then start looking at racks. The shelves on the one I posted can be removed an moved up or down. That large model uses one piece post. So height is set unless you sawzal it. Other models use two piece post. So one rack can become two short racks.

The one I started with was a gorilla rack from Lowes years ago. I used it short an have two T8's stacked an a turtle tank on the bottom shelf. The other half has three T8's on it. An stuff under it on the bottom shelf. Later I bought another an put two shorts side by side for a six footer, T20. Had to use OSB to clear the key post (could have cut them off). I have a T60 on a rack from Home Depot. I ordered it shipped to store as it was not stocked. I'll try to find that model later, if I can.

    Good Luck!

An another thing that works but isn't cheap (can be). Tool chest work great an come in all sizes. I do have one in my man cave with a 175 gallon tank on it. Snap-On an Mac carry large an big $$$$ rollers. Harbor Freight has a 72"x22" for $1,300 ($999 when on sale).

An check Gov deals auctions near you for other things that might work. No reason to pay full price when you can buy it for .10 on the dollar.

    Search by Location - govdeals.com

    Good luck!

Thanks for the information fellow Marylander! Yes, I'm looking at ordering a couple of the T20's (6'), but I want to make sure I know what I'm going to put them on first. I like your idea for two short racks and I like jmcrook's idea for bookending with 2 furniture dollies.

I like this setup because they are movable, away from the wall for cleaning ect. and can be rolled to a different room even if needed for any reason

I looked at building shelving setup, and the metal racks from Lowes/Homedepot, But just like being able to move the whole setup.

and the 1000 lb Milwaukee furniture dollies are only $24.00 each at Lowes, I bought the last 2 they had in stock

Personally, I would just build a custom size stand out of wood (which I've done a few times already). But I realize that isn't always an option for everyone.
