Anyone kept locusts as pets ?
Just saw these in the local pet store live food section ..

They look so nice I wondered if they can be kept as ‘pets’ ?

Maybe using a spare Exo Terra tank

You get ten for 3 dollars

I have never seen these in person before, but I don't see why not? There are people who keep roaches as pets, like hissing roaches, and they like it.

It’s just that they’re intriguing looking critters with a great paint job and they’re a decent size as well .

I know nothing about them but if you try, do keep us posted? Along the same lines are "preying mantises" which I know some ppl keep, & I think are fascinating,
though I've never kept any. (I find them in my yard now & then.) They're definitely interactive. But locusts might be harder to catch if they get loose...;)

The chance of escapes did cross my mind :)

I was brought up hearing about the damage caused by swarms of locusts :)

They're definitely cool looking! I can't help with info regarding keeping them as pets.

Just for grins I thought I'd share this jam by the Black Crowes though https://youtu.be/NiyvAMzklvE
