it's the 04' reeses pieces photo suite!
is it ok to thaw mice using a heat lamp? I have been doing this the past few times and it really speeds up the process. I put the mouse into a bowl lined with aluminum foil and put the heat lamp on top. it takes about 15 minutes and i turn the mouse over during the process. Anyone else try this??

I put pinkies in a small dish and set it outside the cage but under the heat light for my corns. They smell it as it thaws and by the time they are up to temp they are ready to go. Really helps prime the feeding response.

Hey Wes welcome to the site! Hehe I bet (priming the feeding response) - usually what I'll do is have diff storage bags for diff sizes to be thawed (littler stuff be done much faster than the big rats) and fill an Igloo cooler with hot water, toss the bags in and let em go. Remove and finish under a heat lamp in case they are wet or damp and then go to town. Over heating is something I have to watch out for though, if too warm the guts are prone to be squeezed forth.

If I was feeding larger prey or if I am in a hurry then I use the hot water method. But it only takes pinky mice about 20 minutes in the spot they sit in to reach usable temp. For me that amount of time is just fine.

Yeah true enough. THey are ready in no time at all - the bigger rats on the other hand . . . ugh.
