    Ship Your Reptiles
What's the status??? I know they were down for a while, are they back up and running again? Are they shipping snakes? I am FedEx certified but SYR is much cheaper.

    Still no snakes...

You would think it would be in big bold letters on the home page...I know plenty of people are still shipping snakes with them though!

I recently purchased a snake and had it shipped to me through SYR. I was told by a breeder that still uses SYR that if you previosly had a certification with them that you can still ship snakes through them unless otherwise notified as part of a grandfather type deal. This breeder specifically asked the store when they sent the snake through SYR and was told that it was fine. This is just what I experienced and was told, if this is incorrect, I do not condone the illegal shipment of snakes and will not be receiving snakes through SYR from now on.

Looks like I'll be paying the $65 to FedEx  SYR would have been $38. I guess the ultimate end is what is better for the snake in the box!! :)

Just got this in an email:

    ShipYourReptiles.com at Daytona this weekend

    Hey folks,

ShipYourReptiles.com will be serving attendees and vendors at the Aug. 20-22 National Reptile Breeders Expo in Daytona Beach.

Our booth is to the left inside the expo entrance. Look for the 12-foot-tall green banner.

You can ship dry goods and reptiles not including snakes.

    You cannot ship live snakes.

We have been working closely with UPS on the live snake shipping issue. Today we got the official word from UPS' director of dangerous goods:

UPS currently does not allow third party or online snake shipping by anyone. We have learned that all existing snake exceptions apply only to individual breeders or sellers, not their third party or online shipping operations.

While we are fighting hard to allow snake shipping, anyone who currently allows third party or online snake shipping is doing so without UPS permission. Shipments can be stopped and snakes' lives can be endangered. For this reason, we will not book shipments of live snakes at the Daytona show.

Come by our booth, and see how easy, secure and affordable it is to ship your other items with ShipYourReptiles.com
Book and pay for your UPS shipment.
    Drop off your packages.
    Buy shipping supplies.
    Save 30% off retail rates!

    See you there!

I wonder... has anyone else been tempted to pack the snake in the box, label it 'Live Harmless Reptile' as we are supposed to do, but claim if asked that there is a lizard or tortoise in the box? They still ship other reptiles, after all, and how would they really know when everything is all packed up?

It's extremely tempting to do this, though I have not, especially now that I have to sell all my snakes within a month. :(

I know people that have done it...I wouldn't suggest it...Shipping FedEx would be better for both parties involved, knowing they are doing the "right thing", not the "cheapest."

:) Oh, I'm not concerned with 'cheapest' but with timing. I only have a month to get these guys sold, and I've heard plenty about how long it takes to be certified.
I only wish there were some other way right now. Probably would have already sold one if I could ship. Ah well...

Reptile Express is suppose to be a quick turnaround and good so far from reviews...
