Won’t eat

This is my first time on this forum, my ball python is more concern off getting out of the feeding tank instead off eating. She’s been eating up weekly small rats and made it past 1000 grams. But as of last night she shows no interest. I have always cover the feed tank with a blanket since she doesn’t strike the thawed rat. That I have always tempted at 96-101F. Should I be worried or extend her feeding schedule? any input would be awesome.

When you say "feeding tank" do you mean you're feeding her outside her normal enclosure? That might be one of your problems. Taking them out to feed them is not generally recommended here. It causes them far more stress than necessary and increases the risk of regurgitation. If I were in your position that's the first thing I would change.

Agree, feed where they live.

How long have you had this snake? I ask, because you haven't told us much detail* & if it's only been for a few weeks, she might be going into shed cycle, during which
food refusal is NORMAL. (*just because your snake is now 1000 g.+ doesn't mean you've had her the whole time...easier to give you a good answer if we don't have to
guess the details, ok?)

And I totally agree: feed snakes where they live, never in another container/enclosure. It stresses & distracts them so they're more likely to refuse, & YOU are way more
likely to get bit, either before or after, when trying to handle a snake that may still be in "feed mode".

Counter productive even more so with this species feed in the tank.

I also agree with feeding inside the snake's enclosure. Spacing out the feeding intervals might be a good idea too. Try offering food every 2-3 weeks. I typically feed my juvenile and adult snakes every 2-4 weeks.

Sorry for not going into full details. I didn’t want to seem like I was rambling. I have had her for a year, I but she was about a month old maybe two months when I got her. I normally put her in a separate tank for feeding but it’s never been a problem. But I do see the point, of taking her out to eat .

Snakes are wild, NOT domestic, animals. They rely on their instincts. The ONLY thing that picks them up in the wild is a predator that's about to EAT them! So you can see, I hope, why it might be an appetite-killer...? ;)

Thanks for the advice, I’m gonna start feeding her in her home I’m also gonna wait 2 weeks to feed her .I’ll keep updated on how the next feeding goes.
