finally decided on the end-goal of my first breeding project...KILLERBEES!
my boyfriend has an 800+ gram male spider, and i have a 500+ gram female pastel. which will make BUMBLEBEES! i have an adult male pastel coming to me on monday, and when bred with my female will make SUPER PASTELS!! so when those future beauties are all growed up, they will in turn make KILLERBEES! this is my first project i have fully decided on. and being the first few BP's we've got (aside from the new het.albinos) i think we have some damn good ingredients for a first breeding project :D

just a little excitement i had to dump somewhere...

Well, for right now you should focus on getting your female to the right weight for breeding, which should take quite some time. All in all, it would be very rewarding. Though, if yout female isn't that large but is the correct weight for breeding, you will most likely not have as many eggs and you may never know what can be in the eggs until you cut or until they hatch and there could be the Bumble bee, or there could be no Bumble bee but only Pastels and Spiders. Never know what to expect.

oh i know this is going to be a long, long conquest. i don't plan on breeding my female pastel until she's at LEAST 1500grams. it will be very rewarding! i'm glad to finally have set my sights on something attainable, even if it's going to take me years. killerbees are one of my FAVORITE morphs, as are spiders. so i'm pleased to be working with some of my favorites.

Your breeding plan has the same end goal as mine! Good luck with your project, waiting is so hard but it makes it all the more worth it when the time comes.

pfff waiting is okay! i have a freakin nikon D90 and a sigma macro lens...every little feed is a fantastic photo op! so yes, waiting will be long and hard but, with the opportunity of photos every single feeding, it will be all the less painful! who knows, i might even make some $$ if i sell some prints!

What the hell kind of kill-joy comment was that?

Good luck on your Killerbees, no matter what it takes!

Good luck with your PROJECTS!!!! I have another idea that you could do aswell. Maybe you could breed your boyfriends spider male to your pastel. If you have a bumblebee male you can breed him back to his mother.
Then youd have a shot at making:
    Killerbees
    Super Pastels
    Pastels
    spiders
    and of course normals.
(you really dont need the adult male pastel, he'll just slow you down)

Good luck whichever road you choose!

If she's 500g now feed her good & by march she should ready,1100 to 1200 put the male on her if she goes she will eat like crazy feed her good she will be 1700 to 1800g by OV.Thats in the perfect senerio but with balls its not like that she will proply stop eating between 700 & 1000g if that happens well its frustrating it happened to me with two girls I had hope for.

:O i never realized that there was a shortcut to this! i think the odds would be better with the male pastel though, and i want him anyways, so hopefully there will be lots of super pastels somewhere!

the female pastel is feeding great as of now, eating 2 mice a sitting about once a week. we're gonna start her on ASF's too as soon as the first litter has grown up enough to be a substantial meal.

    Advice:
Try to stay away from ASF unless you have a lot in your area. Ball pythons love them, but sometimes wont take anything else once theyre hooked. I have a small colony 1.4 x3...and let me tell you...babies take forever to grow! Babies take a few months just to be a decent size meal vs. a rat that only takes a few weeks. This makes a HUGE difference!

Ya know, at 500 some grams, your pastel girl is plenty big enough for a small rat.

oh i know she's big enough, she's eating 2 mice per sitting. it's just we only have 15 weaned rats who we're growing up right now. we're gonna grow up 2 more females i think so we start producing more. the ASF's are just for my adults to eat, any hatchlings will be started on f/t mice, as they are very readily available for me. just at this rate with 10 snakes eating 2 mice per week give or take, we're spending $88 a month just on mice!

    :gj:

    yea you dont need
a super pastel to breed to your bumble. just get a bumble bee X pastel and you got a killer there.. well maybe if your luck is good!
Good luck with your projects! we have similar taste in snakes!
Although i would have to go with killerbee axanthics... but killer bees are up there too!!!

I'm new to the whole breeding thing. Is there a guide or something that will tell me what makes what?
