Day 61 Cut?

Should I cut? It's now day 61. The incubator temps have been slightly lower than prime, as to not kill the monitor eggs which are also in there. Candleing show good veins and movement of snakes inside... the eggs are denting, the egg box is 'sweating'.

Cut? No? Usually I wait until at least one egg pips, then I slit. But it's day 61!!!!

what are the temps?-mine are usually 88-89 and they hatch 55-57 days...I usually like waiting till the first one pipes then I cut...

Temps were at 86-88F I put the BP eggs up higher than the monitor eggs, in hopes that they would be warmer.
I just slit them, and all 5 look like full term babies, and 4 look pastel from what I could glimpse through the slits. YAY! Can't wait until the emerge healthy! One looks to have CRAZY blushing too!

a couple more days wont hurt.. ;o) what are you expecting?

86-88 is a slow roast...I wouldn't be concerned quite yet. With the sunroofs now, they should be out soon.

Agreed, I like using 88.5-89 myself. Looking forward to seeing pics of those babies soon!

I would have cut at least a week ago! :) Can't wait to see what you get...

I know! I'm not a patient person, so it's been TORTURE! Normally I wait until someone pips, but at 61 days.. I had to slit. None have merged yet.

I think that at slightly lower temps, they take longer, but emerge more robust. Still, I would have cut at day 61, like you did. Pics of babies?

No babies have emerged, but looking in through the slits, these babies do look a bit fatter than other babies I've hatched. If they emerge larger than normal, I may consider setting the incubator a couple degrees low every year.
