These are a few new pics of the Super Sulfur Oddball after it shed. Its colors look much crisper after the shed, and the purple speckles are still there. I love the head pattern and colors...and lack of color. You can see in one of the pics, the only place where the stripe is broken, and it looks like it is only a scale or two of orange missing from being a complete stripe.

That's awesome. Congrats on hatching that.

Do super sulfurs/fires usually have the dark freckles like that one, or is there a chance that it's a paradox? I know the supers can have the tan spots, but I don't know if I've ever seen any with those freckles or that much color in general.

I was wondering the same thing. I wonder if its maybe similar to how mojave BELs have the grayish heads compared to lesser BELs.

Maybe something similar in the black-eyed lucy complex where super sulfurs are prone to black spotting?

I found a "Paradox Super Fire" produced by BHB, that is probably what I have produced using my line of Het Black Eyed Lucy, the Sulfur. The one BHB produced is not as extreme as the one I have produced, but it does have the orange blotches, although not in a stripe pattern, and it does have the purple speckles, although not as many and they do not look quite as dark as the ones on my snake.

Based on the pics I have have seen of BHB's Paradox, I think Super Sulfur oddball is just an extreme example of a Paradox Black Eyed Lucy.

I am going to try and produce another one next year, pairing the same two snakes together, although, I think Paradox snakes are more of a fluke, than something you can just reproduce based on genetics. The adult female Sulfur is eating like crazy, and fattening up nicely. I will take her age into consideration prior to breeding her again this coming up year.

Thanks for all the possitive comments guys/gals. Isn't this why we all do it?

I REALLY hope this is reproducible. It would be nice to figure out SOME way of increasing the yellow with purple spots look. I just really like it so much more then the plain white snake.

Congrats Dave! I know it's been a long haul with some very negative comments about the sulfer along the way. Great to prove it out in such and amazing way. It is simply beautiful!
