said cops bought off of him

    from article:

Deputies arrested 32-year-old Charles Darnell Friday afternoon following a one week investigation. According to the Sumter County Sheriff's Office, undercover detectives bought cocaine from Darnell in front of his home on two separate occasions.

I think there needs to be a little more chlorine in his gene pool. He looks so happy in his photo.

    Some people are just stupid....

It's too bad that people will still hate snakes, even after they see what a moron this guy is.:(

He was selling coke, and they investigated him for a week. He deserves to be in jail. I still think there was something other than 'a snake got out, went to the baby and killed it" involved in that death.

All you had to do was see the guy when the python story broke to know he is a complete scumbag.

At the time Darell told deputies he put the snake in an unlocked cage the night before, then found the snake in the bed on top of the girl when he woke up, according to authorities.
It's plain and simple to me. He told the police he left the cage unlocked.

No matter whether the baby died from the burm or by the guy's hand, it's still HIS FAULT the girl died. I guess the question remains about whether it was manslaughter or murder.

I believe thier is more to the story on the death of the child. He's getting away with murder if you ask me. Thiers no way and 8 1/2 ft burm could eat a child of that size let alone go looking for the child. Smells way out of line. Well no it is not good for our fight at this time for sure. Atleast he's in jail now.

Well looks like he will be there for longer than first thought.

Couple charged with manslaughter in python-related child death

OXFORD - Two people have been charged with murder in the third degree and manslaughter in connection with the July 1, death of 2-year-old Shaiunna Hare who was asphyxiated by a Burmese python in her home.

Jaren Ashley Hare, 19, the girl's mother, is charged with manslaughter, third degree murder and child abuse.

Her boyfriend, Charles Jason Darnell, 32, is charged with the same three counts, according to a statement just put out by the Sumter County Sheriff's Office.

Jaren Hare turned herself into the Wildwood Police Department at 4 p.m. today.

Darnell, who was already incarcerated at the Sumter County Detention Center on unrelated narcotics charges was also notified of the three new charges at about 5 p.m. today.

The manslaughter, third degree murder and child abuse charges stem from the July 1 escape of an albino Burmese python from a glass container inside the couple's home in Oxford. The snake was later found wrapped around the child's lifeless body.

This is just sick, but I am very glad that they got what they deserved. I still don't think it's long enough. And according to that article they just had a baby! People like this should NOT reproduce. And still, I bet people are blaming the snake.

    Really? I don't recall paying.

Perhaps it's just me and my penchant for words and their proper usage.

    Maybe it's just ignorant people.

Probably I'm just not as nice as some might hope.

Are you a tax payer? :P

This story really is sad and is exactly the type of publicity this hobby does not need. It all boils down to the irresponsible owner of the snake.
