Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
Does anyone think best buy should honor there add for the 52inch tv they put up on the web for 9.99? I went shopping at a target once I believe it was about 2 years ago and they had a video game that I wanted that just released that week and they had it put up under the wrong section that was discounted but they sold it to me at the discounted price. I think they should honor there add it was there mistake.

Ha, a discounted video game is a little different than a practically free tv, but I cant blame you for trying lol. Sign me up for 3!

Re: Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
I mean I can understand them cutting the price down a bit, but not that much. Typos happen.

Re: Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
I know I was just using that as a reference but target has a policy that if it is marked wrong they have to sell it to you at that price regardless of what it is. And these tvs are way overpriced imo anyways. When circuit city was going out of business you should of seen how low they dropped the prices on them around here it was crazy. BUt now bestbuy has made it on the news and has pissed all these people off so I think its just bad publicity. I think best buy is a great store and I have bought almost all of my electronics from them I bought a new dell last year and a ps3 from them about 3 weeks ago.

Re: Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
Yes, yes they should.
I bought a set of high performance tires once that were listed as 89 dollars each, which I thought was incredibly low. I paid my price and as it turned out I had actually just gotten a 50% discount based off of a mistake in the system. I dont know for sure, but I think stores have to honor their advertised price on that item or else it is a matter of false advertising.

I can get Performance tires for about that price, just tire shops jack them up. If any of you ever need tires really cheap let me know. I've been ordering from a wholesale place for years, and I can refer you to them also.

It was a pretty good price for Yokohamas.

From Best Buy's website terms:
Prices and availability of products and services are subject to change without notice. Errors will be corrected where discovered, and Best Buy reserves the right to revoke any stated offer and to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions including after an order has been submitted and whether or not the order has been confirmed and your credit card charged. If your credit card has already been charged for the purchase and your order is cancelled, Best Buy will issue a credit to your credit card account in the amount of the charge. Individual bank policies will dictate when this amount is credited to your account. If you are not fully satisfied with your purchase, you may return it in accordance with Best Buy's Return Policy.
Who would really believe that a store would sell a $1700 TV for $9.99? Oh wait, it's the people who were waiting in line outside stores this morning with the ad in hand. When informed that it was a mistake and the price wouldn't be honored, they "erupted in anger or dismay".

I bought a $400 dollar sub woofer for 79.99 from etronics.com that was miss priced on amazon.com. I didn't think they were going to honor it but they did. It was pretty fantastic.

I'd be looking for another Ad agency...

Re: Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
People are human. We ALL make mistakes from time to time. Someone made a typo. Doesn't make it that they have to honor that price at all, or should. No one in their right mind would honor that price and give away a $1700.00 TV for $10.00. For all of those people who lined up out side of Best Buy... they all should have known something was wrong. Mistakes happen!

S'pose it depends on the kinds of Yokohamas, cause the ones for my car are around that price. ( But i am remembering from a book we order from at my garage.... dont remember if that was the suggested retail or not) They arent the sport tires though, fairly normal.
As for the OP.... It depends, if it was a 2K TV marked at 1500? id say they have to honor it. But a 2K tv for 9.99? No..... id say someone messed up when entering that info in, in the code of the site. you could try, but you probably wont get anywhere with it.
One time i went to go buy a Nintendo Wii, K mart had it on the shelf, so youd figure you could buy it right? ( This is when they were REALLY hard to find/get!) Well it had a sell date on it for november... and they refused to sell it to me/computers would not let them. I raised a stink and the lady "Tried" but didnt get anywhere with it. *shakes head* Yeah i was mad, but there was nothing i could REALLY do about it. Sucks, but just because something is advertised, dosnt mean they HAVE to sell.

The Target thing is kind of true. It's true of most merchandise under a certain price. But if it's more expensive, especially big electronics items, they can only offer a 20% discount off the correct price. It all depends on how the customer is acting. If they get all pissed over it, the manager won't offer any discount.
There was once a page in their sale ad that said "anything on this page $40" or something similar. The item in question was an entertainment center. In the picture, it had a TV on top of it. People were trying to claim the TV for $40. Didn't work.
Btw, I work for Target. We hear people trying to claim "discounts" all the time. Most of the time when we can't honor them, people blame us as if we made the error. So no, Best Buy shouldn't honor it. It was a corporate mistake.

Re: Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
No, I think it would be ridiculous to honor that price because of a mistake. They should definitely be looking into punishing whoever made the mistake I heard that their stock prices dropped because of all the bad publicity yesterday.
And as far as the people lined up outside the door, too bad so sad don't be such a greedy idiot next time.
-
Re: Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
No best buy shouldn't. I can't blame people from trying, but I heard people where saying that they're going to get lawyers and stuff? Seriously? Lawyer Bill > Brand New TV. Do the math.

Re: Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
I'm sorry if this offends anyone .
If you think you're entitled to a 52" tv for ten bucks you're an idiot.
If you accidently listed a pie bald for ten bucks you'd back out too.

Re: Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
If you listed your car for $100 and meant to list it for $1000 and someone showed up to buy it - would you honor your mistake?
-
Re: Do you think best buy should honor wrong add?
It would be cool if they did, but I do not think they should.
I would not expect a freebee if it were me. The way I look at it is that someone, somewhere is going to have to make up that difference somehow, and with the economy the way it is, I would rather just be honest and not pitch a fit about it.
Now if the DID honor it, I would take it and run like I stole it :)
