anyone know or know where I can find how much a spider het for albino goes for? Also besides the paperwork is there anyway else to tell if it is a true het? The reason why I ask is i got a guy that might sell me one at 1000+ g for 900

No, there is no way to know positively if a snake is a het or not. The only thing that you have is the breeders/sellers word. If you have doubts about the integrity of the person you are considering buying from, don't buy the animal.

Smaller scaled breeders are also ethical - so you don't have to buy JUST from the big boys. Ask around for the reputation of any breeder before making a purchase on hets. There are many fine hobbiest breeders, many who participate on this forum, that I wouldn't hestitate to purchase hets from.

To answer your question, ask the guy who's selling if he still has the original paperwork from the breeder. If he says no, ask who the breeder was and contact them to see if they kept records of selling one to him.

I don't agree with that at all. There are tons of reputable breeders out there that have hets that I would buy from. It is all about trusting the breeder. Also, what would be the sense in anyone breeding for simple recessive morphs if no one would evey buy their hets?

Wow well Kris when you start selling hets won't you be the guy to buy from. The statement you made very well could have offended every breeder on this site. How about next time you think of a most constructive way to say something. Like " Do your research, check the seller out on the BOI, ask for references, with hets you really have to buy from who you trust. ". See that wouldnt hurt anyones feelings.

I am a very small scale breeder myself, and some of this years babies ended up on CL just due to the fact of I don't have alot of other means to sell them and normal babies aren't worth shipping anyways. Now I take pride by standing my snakes and if anyone buys them from me I plan on standing by what I sell. Not everything on cl is a scam or something.

I will have some hets available in a bit, and I sure hope no one takes THAT advice (to only buy from big breeders)--I've only been in business for a couple of years, lol. They'll come with paperwork of course.

I think I would probably price a spider het for albino at about $900, but that's prior to actually checking the market. That's the only way I've really found to price out combo morphs. If no one has one available...well, you have to go out on a limb, and realize that YOU may be setting the price for others. And don't expect to charge as much as NERD or BHB. People will pay for the name with those guys. They've earned it, after all.

I think you have good intentions but as others have pointed out, there are plenty of small scale hobbyist breeders who are just as legit and sell just as high quality animals as BHB or NERD.

If anything, the smaller guys have to work even harder to make that sale competing with the larger companies. So they have even more incentive to provide legit hets and high quality animals.

Paperwork is nice if it gives you that warm fuzzy feeling that you did not just throw away $$$$$$ on a normal, however, nice paperwork could just mean the seller is computer savvy. Paperwork is worthless without a photo, and is only as good as the breeder's reputation. How good is CRE's paperwork and guarantee...remember them, sellers of a ton of Het Pieds back 4 or 5 years ago...?
