How does this licensing thing work anyway? Is there a charge to buy the license? Is it a regular hunting license? Do you need to have a certain number in your party? Are there certain rules that you have to follow? Can out of state people get a license? Do you have to hire a guide?

I've been thinking about setting something up but don't know all the details. I think it would be lots of fun and I could say I helped a little.

As far as regulations go, I've heard no guns allowed and the appropriate way to dispatch the creature is to cut off the head.. But I've only seen knives around, no axes. Katana hunting anyone?? lol..

Please fill us in on the regulations, I'm curious as well.

Hopefully you'll be tempted enough to "accidentally" drive over them...

I hope by hunt you mean kill?

    Later, Matt

It's not about it being humane, it's about keeping firearms out of the everglades I believe..

first u have to be certified and know ur stuff i could never get one but if u ask any question about everglades or snake my boy josh knows it.
u dont get paid to catch it but ur allowed to sell the hide and meat or keep it if u want once u catch u have to kill u cant keep it which is kinda sad but there ruining the everglades killing the wildlife there the top of the food chain not the alligator once it gets 9 feet alligator stands no chance

You have to obtain an roc permit first which is 100 dollars and then apply to hunt the burms. I have tried but I dont have enough money to get a hotel for a week or two. I live in sc and I cant just drive down for one day to hunt I would like to go and hunt for atleast a week. But florida is so expensive to stay at I just dont have the cash at the moment. But I believe you can take up to 4 people with you if your the one with the permit.

My husband leaves on a week long hunt on August 20th. He had to obtain a ROC permit and then send the application for the hunt to Florida Fish and Wildlife for approval. There is a $100.00 charge for the ROC permit but no charge on the other-you just have to be approved. You can have 4 other people in your party but you are responsible for them as you hold the permit/license. There are rules and the hunts have to be precisely documented. We are out of state and he has the license. As far as a guide-no you do not have to hire one but there are only certain areas you are allowed to hunt on at this time.

it is way more humane than a bullet to the head! if you sever the spinal cord just behind the head, the entire nervous system shuts down instantly. the animal cannot feel pain after that.

Ever seen the videos of the rattlesnake head opening and closing it's mouth trying to attach with no body? I would think a bullet to the brain would actually be more humane, destroy the control center.

I seen that, they cut too far behind the snake head, leaving the brain with all its works intact that why its still alive.
