    is he constapated?
my baby BP hasnt pooped in ages :(

lol i guess i should be smiling but now its worrying me.

his last poop was atleast 2 months ago.

i made a mistake in ordering pinkies to start him off on, though. and then i ordered hoppers but perhaps theyre just too small for him? they arent nearly as wide as he but i give him atleast 4 or 5 a week. maybe that could be why?

he isnt skinny but he isnt fat. and he looks totally fine, eats fine, and seems to urinate fine.. just no poop.

theres no bulges at his lower end of anything.. should i be worried? or should i just feed him more? he doesnt look under fed to me. but is more of an oval shape than a pure round one. shall i feed him 'till he's round? lol..

ive also heard stories of baby BP's eating their own poop. i really doubt this is the case but what do you think?

Your not feeding him enough...You don't mention how old he is...Hatchlings can be started on Hopper mice and moved to adult mice rather quickly.

He is probably absorbing most of the nutrients, but you could try letting him soak in warm (not hot) water. Sometimes this will relax them enough to let it go...

You sure there's not any logs stuck inside his hides? I made the mistake of only lifting the hides to check and not looking inside them, found a nice little log stuck inside.

As someone already said, a relaxing bath about 2-3 inches of lukewarm water in your bathtub or plastic tub big enough to hold him should make him relieve himself in about 10-15 minutes. I did that about 2 days ago with my 9 month bp and sure enough, he went! Lukewarm is about 90 degrees, neither cold, nor hot.

    thanks for the replies.

yeah i have already given him two baths, with no release.. but then its not like theres a huge bulge to release.. theres no white between any scales or anything either.

i think he probably needs feeding more. as he's only shed once since ive had him too. its hard to judge how much a snake should feed. the petstore said 1 fluffy a week would be fine when i got him. i knew that wasnt enough, but wouldve certainly though multiplying that by 5 wouldve done it :p although for the first few months he did only get two or three a week.

aslong as its not unheard of for a young BP to go this long without a poop, then im pretty sure he just wants more food, he's probably just utilizing 100% of what he's being fed.. but if people think otherwise then please let me know, cheers :)

if its safe (ive heard it is but good to check) i may lace his next mouse with prune juice :P
is that ok? just 5ml or so.

I've had my guy for almost a month and have the same issue. He's about 4 mos old and eating 1 fuzzy a week. Should I move him up to two fuzzy's a week when I feed tomorrow? I also need a poop sample for the vet :)

My older female didn't go for two months. She just laid one a couple days ago.

He can probably pretty easily take a larger meal. You should be feeding him meals approximately the same thickness as the thickest part of the snake, if not a little larger. Once the item is swallowed, you should see a small bulge.

    Hope this helps.

As was already stated, the prey should be about the same thickness as the thickest part of your snake and approx 10-15% of the snakes weight. If you don't have a scale already, I recommend getting one. I use a digital food scale from Wal-Mart to weigh my rats. I also take my scale to the pet store to weigh them before buying so I know I'm getting what I need...

    Its normal. Stop worrying!!

Also, feed him more :P 10-15% of his body weight every 5-7 days.

Your snake is going to shed and poop when its ready. You need to address your feeding routine. 4 or 5 of anything a week is not the best plan. Curl your index finger and thumb around your snake. Like you are making the OK sign and let the snake go through the hole you make with your fingers. Then let the snake run through your hand allowing your fingers to expand till you find the largest part of the snake. Now take note of where your index finger is touching your thumb. If the rodent can't fit through there then its a bit large. If its smaller then you should weigh the snake and the food items. Try and feed 10% to 15% of the snakes body weight in 1 rodent, 2 if you don't want to throw out rodents that are too small.
