I didn't know you kept any of the red headed rufous snakes. I have a Rhamphiophis Rostratus. How is the temperment on your male/female?

Much like the rostratus. This one is a bit calmer and even more inquisitive. Once you give these animals a large enclosure, their personalities really come out.

I've heard of a few nippy ones, but this one is a peach.

I have a chance at a pair of Acutus here soon....I'm keeping my fingers crossed...........

Rhampiophis are turning into my favorite genus. Acutus are beginning to be imported and I'm trying to see if anyone can get their hands on a Maradiensis.

Yea, my little one has an awesome personality, does yours like to stand up like a cobra? I know mine will do it a lot.

I wouldn't say the rubropunctatus are calmer then the rostratus. Maybe yours may be a bit calmer due to it being older, mines just really active, and very curious.

Also do you wear gloves/long sleeve shirt when you handle yours? I know some people do, but I don't really find it necessary.

It's younger than the rostratus.............like I said this one is calm.

I wear gloves to get the animals in and out of their enclosures. Once out, I take them off.

Yea, I have 2 very calm snakes, so I don't use anything. My rufous is always fun to get out, I put my pinky in the hide and pet him and then I pull my hand out in front, and he will come out, and wrap around up my arm then I just lift my arm out.

I'm not sure how old my rostratus is, but I believe he is still a juvenile, he is about 11-12 inches long, but very thin.

My female rostratus is three years old.

She has, and always will be a spaz. She is currently about 700 grams and is quite thick.

The red is a yearling and is about 312 grams. Longer than the rostratus but much thinner. He is one of the calmest colubrids I've ever encountered.

He ate for me the first day I received him and has been laid back in general from day one.

Yep, i'm still having to feed my rostratus the bigger pinkys, he's almost into fuzzies, so I can't wait. He may be around 10" actually, I looked at him a bit ago. I wouldn't even want to weigh my rostratus. I know he's very small, plus he still has the reddish to him which means he's still a juvenile, probably somewheres around a year old or younger if I had to guess.
