    Snake Picture Tutorial (step by step)
    Since not everyone has a fancy camera or a lighttent, I will try to explain how you can easily improve your snake pictures with Photoshop.

    Tim Johnson from RoyalMorphz allowed me to use a picture of his pretty Pewter.

    I start to open this picture in Photoshop:
    http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...o_photos/1.jpg

    Then I will add some brightness to the picture, because it is a little dark.
    Image --> Adjustments --> Brightness/ Contrast --> Add brightness

    Now the image looks like this:
    http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...o_photos/2.jpg

    The image is still dark and the snake can be lighter. I use the following steps:
    Image --> Adjustments --> Levels
    I use the white dot to increase the brightness of the background and the grey dot to increase brightness on the snake.

    The image should look something like this:
    http://i173.photobucket.com/albums/w...o_photos/3.jpg

    Now I follow the last steps:
    Image --> Adjustments --> Exposure
    I add “Exposure” to increase the white of the background even more and I use “Offset” to get the right contrast on the snake. Then I use “Gamma correction” to tune the brightness of the snake.

    The final image will look like this:

    Have fun with editing your pictures!

    This is a great write up. Should help ALOT of people with their photoshopping and pictures in general.

    If I could make a suggestion... You should add a little segment of like what drop down menu each of the tools are in. I know I have photoshop but hardly ever use it so I am far from an expert. I have tinkered around with it but never really learned it. I couldnt tell you where the tools you used are or how hard they are to find. Maybe a little thing like for example, my recent history on IE 8 (history/recently closed tabs/general BP's ball-python.net) I dont know if that was a good example but it was the best way I could think to explain it.

    I think this should be stickied if you do that. Probably anyway, but this would make it useable by everyone, not just the experienced user.

    Thanks for the great write up on photo editing. I will use this later when I take my first pictures of my new guy (Im stoked!!) He came in the mail while Im at work today.

    Just be careful you don't over do the software exposure or it will start to blur the lines between the snake and your background. :gj:

    Thanks for you reply. The dropdown menu's are already in the tutorial. They all start in the "Image" dropdown :)

    Not to steal your thunder, but thought I'd add a link to this thread for those without photoshop. Connie has a quick tutorial to do similar things with the Gimp after the light tent assembly.

    That is why I started this thread for people that don't have a lighttent or gimp ;)
