All great outstanding photos, I had to go with 9, because of the sneakiness of the photographer.

All of them were great, but I had to go with number nine! I LOVE the pose, lighting, and the reflection on the water--all topped with fantastic clarity...

9 is the clear pick for me, but what I do not understand is number 11, which is my second choice, has only one vote compared to several for some of the others. It is so photographically stunning too. Only a matter of my style kept me for voting on it. Beautiful contrast, wonderful vignetting, not busy at all, just very... good.

My choice, number 9, is a bit busy but the photographer kept the attention focused on the python with framing, lighting, and depth of field presenting a remarkably intimate look into the daily life of this serpent. The photo speaks volumes of different phrases to many people, rather than just "I am a pretty snake, look at me".

However, if 10 had the color saturation and edge burning of number 9 and 11 I would have probably picked it over the rest.

But that is just my uneducated guess...

Thank you. Alas, I followed the contest rules to the letter when it said no digital enhancing other than cropping and resizing, and then noticed how dull it looks compared to the others. :(

Here's my thread with that same picture with colors and contrast tweaked (scroll about halfway down):

Glad you liked the picture anyway! :)

Very nice. I feel that any photo that has its colors or contrast brought out to represent what the artist was trying to do at the time is not necessarily digitally enhanced, but that is my opinion. I try to do everything on the camera myself, but there is always those few stunning shots that just lack a bit of saturation.

And I believe that even Ansel Adams said that all photos should have a bit of edge burning on them.
