HR2811 ACT NOW! Only 1 day to act!
This will affect the entire USA. NOT just florida. Its in the US house of reps right now. On Tues July 28th, & Wed July 29th it goes before 2 different committees to try and pass this bill! Just 10 minutes of your time to call or fax to the numbers provided will stop this.

Thousands responded the last time they tried to pass a ban and we won. This time we need to double that number. Follow this link to the USARK.org forums for all the details and instructions!

The reps outside your state usually can't be reached by email from people outside they're jurisdiction. Calling or faxes are also the best way to reach your reps.

Talk to your rents, they'll understand.

2kdime is right.. The best thing you can do is try to get permission to call or fax a letter to each of the phone numbers. You can make a copy of the sample letter with your name. Personalize it if you want but keep it short & professional. Remember to include your name, address & PH# at the bottom or it will be ignored. Make a copy of this & try to get to a fax machine with a list of the numbers. A school, office supply store, walmart, walgreens etc.. We need to get them to revise it to only include the import of the larger pythons that are causing the threat.

I have this posted on two websites I'm on and trying to gather up friends who will help. I'll be calling in, but can't fax due to not having long distance.

Dont know if you get voice mail or a real person when you call. I'll start calling tomorrow. So far Ive faxed 2 letters to each #. A friend who works at a vet office had every employee fax one in each of their names. Ive posted numerous bulletins on myspace & a public blog. I have at least 30 breeders on my friends list including the official USARK myspace page. Ralph Davis has also been posting. Contact your local exotics vets & ask them to help as well. They are trying to pass each bill faster than the last to give us less time to react. Thanks to everyone who helps!

I'm calling all my reps, and also all the sponsering reps.

Usually you get a live person(an intern), and you can just tell them "I'm opposed to HR2811" and they will ask you for whatever further information they want, if you're shy about calling.

Remember, these people work FOR YOU! They are representing YOUR voice to the rest of Congress! Do you want them saying "Yes, all my constiuants say they hate pythons!"??? Call them up!

hey all, im new to the forums and pythons in general but ive been calling and spreading the word this morning.

From what I can tell the campaign is working. I just called the offices of Robert Wexler and the gentleman that answered let me know that (paraphrasing here) they have received hundreds of calls and they now realize the wording of the bill is too broad and they are planning to introduce an amendment to it tomorrow.

Whats the next step here, should I keep calling the rest of the congressmen to make sure the amendment sticks or is it a sure thing?

I've made all my calls... make sure you call them no matter what you hear people say, as far as how many calls they've gotten. There can never be too many calls!

I have something that might cheer everyone up.

A couple weeks back, I e-mailed one of my senators concerning the python ban..I got a reply today:

Thank you for your recent correspondence. As your voice in Washington, D.C., I appreciate being made aware of your views.

Your thoughts were informative regarding S. 373, a bill to include constrictor snakes of the species Python genera as an injurious animal. This bill has been referred to the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee, of which I am the ranking member. As we consider this legislation, I will keep your comments in mind.

Even though I return to the state almost every weekend, I do not always have the opportunity to listen to everyone's ideas. These ideas are important, as they are the building blocks of Oklahoma's representation here in Washington. When you share these ideas with me, you are sharing them with Congress and, in turn, the nation.

Again, thank you for your comments. Please do not hesitate to contact me again.
    ---

Crossing my fingers that I influenced his decision for our side.

    Were making an impact!!!
Keep calling and faxing a personal letter with your personal info to every number! Make sure you get every number! Keep going all day if you have to! I was told by one rep that they have recieved more calls on this than any other issue in the house right now! Here are all the numbers. Keep at it. If you get a busy line move to the next one!

Time is critical, so please take the time to contact the following Congresspeople and ask them -- POLITELY -- to send this bill back to be amended to use the scientific names of the specific animals they're seeking to restrict, and not include common housepets along with animals of concern.

    Chair:

    John Conyers, Jr., (D) Michigan, 14th, email: john.conyers@mail.house.gov, phone: 202-225-5126, fax: 202-225-0072

    Ranking member:

People need to remember to include your name and home state when calling. Be polite. With personal letters keep them short and professional with all your contact info or it may be ignored.
