To Beard, or not to Beard
...that is the question. haha okay, not really. Since we are doing a lot of "what are your opinons on _____" I figured I'd throw this one out. It seems a lot of things, such as tattoos, peircings, and facial hair are divided around 50/50 with people who like them and people who don't. What is your view on it? Lets keep this simple. We're talking facial hair (on guys haha) of any type, I leave that up to your disgression to address in your post here. Are you a guy or a girl, and do you like it or not? Think in general terms! If you like a kept beard, but not a huge one, still answer yes, just let us know!

I couldn't imagine myself with a beard. It looks good on some people, might look fine on me, but frankly my preferred facial hair length is a day or two after a shave.

Big bushy beards for me all day long!!! I can't grow hair on my head but I can grow a killer beard :gj: This is a pic my youngest son took of me the other day. It is inverted though because he thinks they look cool that way (they are kinda neat looking). I have just started gowing out my beard again. I let it grow for awhile then I usually shave it (and regret it) and let it grow in again. When I don't have a beard I feel naked and exposed

I can't grow a beard but my chin and side burns come in thick and I love having hair. I get told when I dont have it I look like I"m 12 and I'm 28. If I could grow a beard I sure would.

I like goatees, on many guys. I am not a mustache fan with regards to my husband.. but I can appreciate them from afar. A long, well-maintained beard is almost like a status symbol to me though; it shows that its owner is dedicated and devoted to its upkeep; since I have seen what they can look like unkempt! I do like fun-colored-dyed goatees and beards that you can braid!

I am in short, a goatee girl. But some guys just look better clean-shaven, or at least they look younger.

Quick story! My dad had a mustache when I was a kid. One day, when I was about 5 years old, he arrived home without it (went and got it shaved off.) He also had had long hair, and had gotten it chopped off.. he look so different that I was terrified, didnt' recognise him,and began screaming until my mom informed me who he was, and I heard him talk. LOL. But facial hair and its presence or removal, has a HUGE effect on someone's looks (male OR female!)

hahaha thats a great story! It's so true though. It makes such a huge difference. People who don't have a very defined jaw line, like me, tend to look better with a beard as it aids in that regard. I don't have a moustache though. I think they look weird on me.

    If I shave my beard off, I'll look 14, with a beard I'm guestimated at around 26. I'm 20.

LOL...I think it means, some guys will look good in beards, and some won't. Different facial structures, whisker patterns, beard textures, skin/hair coloration....all those factors (in MY opinion) go into whether or not a guy can pull off a good beard look or not. Your poll was a bit incomplete. :P I've seen unattractive beards and very handsome beards. I've seen clean shaven guys and thought that a beard would compliment his face or hide some flaws really nicely....and I've seen clean shaven guys grow facial hair and it's just.....bleh!

Personally, I'm glad my hubby is clean shaven. I love him that way. But on the rare occasion when we have a couple weeks away from his work, I've encouraged him to let a goatee grow. It makes him look.....well.....yummy! :D But his whisker pattern is sparse along the jaw and cheeks and he'd look very scruffy and unkempt if he tried to grow a full beard, no matter how well maintained it was.

I usually have a goatee; this last winter I grew a beard and I enjoyed it very much. Once you breach that ichy phase at least. Best part was that no body recognized me in my town, so being undercover was pretty nice for a change. Not to mention not having to shave is a huge plus when you're lazy like me :)

I generally grow a beard every year and then keep it for a month or two and then get rid of it. My wife prefers me clean shaven, but she's a good sport and puts up with my yearly insanity. Right now I'm just starting to grow a new one so I look like I should be sleeping under a freeway overpass or a railroad bridge.

Where's the option for : I'm a guy and am not capable of growing a beard? :( Yep, 20 years old and hardly a whisker... I've been growing my hair out for about a year now though and I definitely want to try a beard on some day. Looked good on my dad and I'm pretty much a spitting image so why not.

Here's my feeble beardless attempt to contribute :P Took this pic about 10 seconds ago

On me a prefer the scruffy look .. 2-3 days on not shaving is perfect, but a beard is a no. On other guys .. it really depends. My dad tried to grow a 'stache and it looked awful. It looked so bad in fact that we had an intervention and told him it needed to go.

... I am a sucker for the well-maintained and short facial hair styles.

I like to change up my facial hair from time to time, but I ALWAYS keep some kind of hair. In the summer, it's generally a goatee of some kind, and in the winter I like to grow a beard. I kinda can't wait for the cold weather because I'm looking forward to growing a bushy beard this year...

Sorry guys, but I'm not a beard fan. If you can pull off a goatee and I approve, then that's alright. And I'm ok with a little scruff (if it looks ok), but not much. But other than that, keep it clean!

And I have to ask, what's so special about neck beards?

I've maintained a goatee since I was 15. I occasionally will cut it all off to let it grow back a new but that is only once in a blue moon and I can regrow it in a week. I want to grow a full beard but I am genetically predisposed to bold spots near my chin until I am about 25 :(.

I voted the 4th option. But really it's 3 and 4. I love the look of my beard but I hate the way it feels and the maintenance. My facial hair is very course. I call it my "steel wool."

I also like the look and feel of a clean shave but I am too damn lazy to shave every day.

So what happens is I'll spend a week or 2 shaving and then get tired of it and let it grow out for about a month till I get tired of it or irritated and shave it off. Then the cycle repeats.

I have two kids. One with my wife (the younger one) and one older from another girl. Both are boys. Me and my wife are hoping our next one is a little girl. I am just NOT looking forward to her dating  and I am really not looking forward to changing a little girls diaper. I am actually not changing it unless I have no other choice. Just keep shaving, even when its hardly there, the more and more you do the darker/thicker it will grow back.

I'm a female and I like a guys with certain types of facial hair -goatee, "soul patch" or "the tickler", and short sideburns are among my favorite. I also like the chin strap. I HATE mustaches and I HATE beards.

My boyfriend is half Mexican so he can pretty much grow a beard in three days. I absolutely hate it because he looks much older and not attractive-unfortunately I'm attracted to humans, not wolfmen. He hates it cause I say things like "oh great I'm dating a hobo again" lol. Maybe when he gets old he can grow one :P I don't like mustaches because they aren't cute and they itch/poke my skin, not comfortable to cuddle up to. :colbert:

Little goatees are ok for me, but generally, unless it's specific to their face, no facial hair is good for me.
However, non-relationship wise, I think some men can look awesome with beards and I love to see older men with super long beards.

    http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...cleo+half-wrap

forgive the hair, it looks like crap down and messy. It's a mohawk. I shortened it, and my beard the other day.

On a side note...I'm probably dressing up as the singer of mudvayne for halloween, so the beard (minus chin) may be disappearing for a week, along with everything but a mohawk (shaved this time). Kinda sad about the beard..but I think It'll be worth it.

If you don't know the look, here is a link. Don't look if you're scared of clowns, k? Thanks, lol.
