And She is Here!!!!!
Ok... now by now some may remeber my thread that was titled "cant wait".... Well my boyfriend and I made the two hour drive this morning to go pick here up from the breeder's house.... and she is so very beautiful...
She was born on 6/16/09 and was hatched at weight of 67 grams... has since shed and eaten five meals.... Yesterday was suppose to be feeding day, but since the breeder knew she had a car ride, did not feed her....
There is no name that pops into mind, so if anyone has any suggestions I am open to them..
Well enough talking....

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
Naw.. they are not my snakes, and the first time that I have gotten anything from the lady that is their breeder, so I did not feel too comfortable about asking if I could whip my camera out in her snake room..... Maybe, next time.... she also breeds geckos and so if I get the managers position then maybe my son can have a Gecko......?

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
Well in the last couple of hours she has seemed to settle in quite well..... she is a bit skittish (i do not think that she has been handled much since she was hatched last month) and jumps when I move the hides to see where she is but she has not balled up on me which is a very good sign......

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
Pretty girl, I like the head markings...

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
yeah... and the breeder has not really noticed much of the wobbles with her, but after observing her,.... her head is a bit "shaky" not much and only barely noticable... I was looking for it though so the average person may not see it.....

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
not sure if I will go with beans... but thanks for suggesting a name... I have no clue what to name her..... Rios was easy,.. I just shortened curious, and that was what hit me right away with him, but she has nothing hitting me yet.......:)

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
You should name her Orange Glo, after Billy Mays.
Just a suggestion. :P

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
Name her Pam after Polythene Pam, or Rita after Lovely Rita.

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
Ok so she has been home for a few days now... she is the most timid little creature I have ever seen.... She is very very head shy and really hesitant about every thing..... She is a cutie pie though and appears to be settling in.... now I am going to do the worried mother syndrome....Now I have Rios who is a few months older then her and come to find out is about double her size... He is an avid eater... hit the mouse the first day I brought him home from Petco, and since then has shied up a bit and now I just leave the F/T mouse in the tank and in the morning it is gone.... Well yesterday, I attempted to feed the little girl since from the breeders calculations puts her at about 9 days with out eating....She looked really interested in the FT mouse but shied from hitting... So tonight I am trying to just lay it in the tank and see if she will eat it that way.... Now I know that since she was hatched last month she has eaten five times.... Four live rat pups and the last feeding was a ft mouse..... any sujjestions with her and getting her to eat... I really do not want to feed live if I can at all help it... and how big is a rat pup compared to an adult mouse? Shoudl I try hoppers with her? Would an adult mouse be too big at only a month old? I thought I knew what i was doing since I have had Rios for a few months, but he was already a few months old and use to eating FT hoppers that Petco would feed him........ She is just so small that I do not want her to go too long with out eating.

Hey, we share the same birthday... although I was born a little before 2009, LOL! (I consider our little one to be a belated birthday present.)
"Amber" was the first name that came to mind. :)

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
Hi,
I wouldn't offer again so soon - it can just add to the stress of a new environment.
Let her be completely for at least a week - no handling except for unavoidable cage cleaning and no more offers of food.
It won't hurt her to wait another 7 days for her meal and might make her more inclined to take it as long as she feels secure in her environment. :gj:

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
OK... so from the picture I should be looking more at a hopper mouse then an adult mouse with her.... and yeah.... she is down for the next few days....

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
It really depends on your supplier, because I buy F/T "adult" mouses and they do not seem to be that fat. Check out what they have, ask to see sizes.

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
I go through petco and the adut mice are what I give Rios and he is about double her size.......

Re: And She is Here!!!!!

Re: And She is Here!!!!!
SHE ATE!!!!!!!! She finally ate ... it was a "small" mouse.... closer to the size of a hopper, but she ate!!! whoo hoo!!! sixth meal of her life, and the second one that was F/T......
-
Re: And She is Here!!!!!
Oh yeah.... and in the process of feeding her.... she hissed at me and tagged me.... :) She was being weird so I had to pick her up to move her and some of the bushes that are in the tank... she hissed at me then.... then while holding her I grabbed up the F/T mouse by the scruff of the neck (of course with my hand, I have not used a pair of tongs yet), well that was all it took... I barely had the mouse in front of her and she struck!!! nicked the tip of my finger as she hit the mouse.....
