I agree with Connie. Clean it up and lets see the actual bite marks. While it looks painful indeed, sometimes people are just bleeders:D

    Why did this happen?

Ah yes, thats all part of owning the big boy's. It does happen. Hope that does not detour you or anyone else on owning them. They are amazing and awsome animals and can be great pets. But please check and do alot of research ( educate your self ) before you get one or 2 or 3 or.............

he was just letting you know how much he loves you. I had one of mine do a little bluff strike at me yesterday and I had to check myself to make sure she actually didnt bite me but I can tell you I jumped back a few feet lol. All a part of keeping snakes if you have them eventually you are going to be bitten lol

Stitches? For that? Holy Heat Pit Snake Man, that's incredibulous.

Why back in The Day, we'd a just slapped some SuperGlue on it to close it up, wrapped in in Duct Tape to keep in clean and went on our merry way.

Stitches.....heh....bunch a pansies nowadays, these people and their blood....of course the back of the hand is going to bleed profusely. Have you ever actually looked at the number of veins just under the skin on he back of your hand.

Shoot, we didn't even bother cleaning up the blood, we just walked through it until it dried up and blew away, we did, back then, when not just any sissynanny could get a snake like that. And not because they weren't available, they were. But you had to have a .....certain something, a casual regard for life, that owners today just don't have to have.

Now, all you need is a hundred bucks and a 10 gallon tank and you're a keeper.

Ah well, it's got to be close to beer o'clock....it's got to be, being so thirsty and all.

We used to dump some gasoline on the wound, grab a wooden dowel (optional) to chew on, and light a match.

I prefer to use gunpowder. Its quicker and no gas smell. :)

Oh heck, that ain't nuthin. If it was cauterizization we wuz after, we'd just take a styrofoam cup and melt it onto the the bite. Sealed it right up. Cover with duct tape to keep it clean, and back to work.

We tried the gas thing a time or two but couldn't remember to keep marshmallows around for the inevitable torching of the floor where the gas spilled.

The home made napalm worked wayyyyy better and didn't smell near as bad as burning gas.

LOL you guys are nuts, even though I know you all are kidding. One way i've noticed that if you ever get tagged by something venomous, and/or want to stop bleeding, use ice cubes. Ice cubes thicken the blood.

Super glue has been used many times to close wounds. In fact they have a medical grade super glue they use for wounds.

This may be too late to mention, but do they do sell kevlar lined, leather gloves that go upto your elbow to prevent this sort of thing...

    and rather inexpensive at that.

that the one reason I don't want the larger snakes, bp bite enough trouble to get off if they want to hold alone. There is no way I be able to removal a burm or retic by myself.

I point out the op thank those that were over for the help in clan up after.. I get a littel edgeing witthe single small boa I have nhere now ( 7-8ft long) so far she tame and not chomped me yet.( spilt a board on my head for luck lol) She more interested in finding high places to lay and knock everything on the spot to the floor when allowed to roam the reptile room.
