I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
I was eating at the Steak N' Shake in Lake Worth on 199 just west of 820, I enjoyed the food as I normally do pay and leave.
15 Minutes after I leave I realize I have left my phone!!!!
So I start blowing it up, nothing no one answers. So I go back to the restaurant and no one saw it...
The only people there were my friend, the manager, our waitress, and the cook. That is it no more no less...
So I am self employed and I MUST have this phone for work stuff or risk losing alot of money an missed loads, so I rush to my nearest AT&T and tell them I need a new iPhone. $860 later I walk out an all the more livid man.
I was just going to blow it off but I decided against it and went back for the 3rd time but this time I called the police and filled a report.
When I was there the 2nd time the manager was the one who cleared the table, when the police showed up it was the waitress, then it was the other girl that showed up after I left, then no one knew who cleaned the table.
Long story short the police were of no help, not a lack of effort on the officers part, and I left with only the good assumption the manager has it.
He just seemed shifty didn't really have an answer for anything just pointing fingers at the waitresses, he didn't know who cleaned the table. He tried saying there were 3 or 4 other customers in the store after the waitress just told the police officer that there was no one else there. He was not helpful, I know that if I was a manager there I would have offered the customer something free meal, free dessert, something! I just lost a $600 phone and had to go buy a $800 phone, at least give me half a peace sign!!!!
So basically this is no ones fault but my own. I should have kept up better with my own phone, if it weren't left no one could take it. Thanks for taking the time to read this, hope you remember your phone ;)

I feel for you, I have lost phones before. But, sometimes, I wish I would lose my iPhone so I could be free of its magical powers.

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
I'm glad I don't need a smart phone of any variety.. I just gave up on the pricier phones with cameras and opted for the absolute minimalist phone I could find. $20 from Wal-Mart, hurray.
I can buy 10 of these things a year and come out ahead of most people.

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
You checked deep down in the seats?
Also, I love how my iphone is backed up onto my computer every time I hook it up. If you installed the OS3 software, then you should be able to wipe the data remotely.
Plug it up to your computer, and if you backed everything up - then you've lost nothing....except $800. ouchy...

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
How do I do that. Is it somehing that I should have set up to begin with?
I do feel like a total idiot leaving my phone.

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
Ouch!! :(
That sucks.
Can't the carrier tell you where it is?
I know over here they can brick the handsets remotely so it will be of zero use to the thief - and, simply because of how they work, all phones can be tracked by the carriers as long as they are switched on.

Good Call.
You would think with ALLLLL the apps you can get on those iphones, that they would have something factory installed that would locate the position of your phone. Apple must have overlooked that. :)

This is actually a part of MobileMe (as well as the remote erase).
With MobileMe, you can log into your account and if your phone is on, you can see right where it is (or, approximately)
One other thing you can do is send a text mesage, with the option of playing a sound for 2 minutes - whether the phone has been muted or not, it will play that sound as loud as possible.
I'm currently on the 60 day trial, but I have every intention on paying the $100 yearly fee for MobileMe - totally worth it, IMO.

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
You could report it as stolen, and if the person tries to set it up for himself, they can get him. You will also have your phone back...

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
I feel for you. I do not have an iphone because ATT is pretty lame in my area, but I have one of the Itouch Ipods (almost identical to the iphone) and I use it for everything. I used to use a PDA but the itouch is so much better and faster, It even has a ballistic calculator on it I use on my sniper rifle. I hope you can get it found.
I wonder if there is a herp management app for it? :snake2:

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
I believe this is the phone number for the Texas corporate office for that chain (972) 334-0737. I'd be giving them a call, give them the police report number and explain the fact that there was no one in their place of business other than their own staff. Ask about security cameras while you're at it. Mention the switching of stories given to you and the police about who cleared that table after you left.
If their manager or a staff member did take your phone I'm sure they'd like to know. If the first person you speak to isn't interested in knowing, well I bet THEIR boss will be.

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
Yes, they can track just about all of these smart phones. The question is whether or not they will be willing to do that kind of thing. I'm just guessing but the carrier may not be very excited about tracking someone unless the police tell them to.

Just seems like a personal security thing. Maybe I am paranoid. But what would it take for someone to get my information and walk into the phone company and have them track me down for that person. Then again maybe they would do it no problem ... who knows.
EDIT: Don't think I have said this but man I'm sorry your phone is missing. That would be rough. Good luck with everything.

That's actually part of the MobileME service they have - if you're signed up for it, you can log into the website and track the phone via GPS.

Re: I lost/got stolen my iPhone!!!
When the Razr first came out (and cost an ungodly amount of money) only 2 people had them in Saginaw, MI.
I knew one of the guys, he was 16, got his phone stolen. Reported it stolen to Verizon, and when the people came in to activate it on their line, he got is phone back.
Worth a try, those are stupid expensive phones.
