    Axanthic Just Arrived!
Just Arrived!! Finaly got an Axanthic :D

I know the pics are a little dark, I didnt used a light, just the flash light from the camera and my room is dark. Next time I'll use a lamp. Still learning :P

He arrived a little cold, and in one spot I could almost swear he was a bit frozen, There was a cold pack in the package under his bag, Seller mistake? Anyways I am just happy I finaly have him! I hope he turns out ok. :(

He is 296g at the moment.

According to the pet store, He is a VPI =). He is around 8 months old, and around 300g. Is that a good weight for how old he is?

That sounds a tad underweight to me but I'm not that experience. It's nothing that a few feedings won't hurt.

He looks great though! I'm sure he'll start to pack on weight soon enough. Goodluck with him.

    Nice looking animal but WAIT!

He is only 8 months old and browned out already?

Aren't Axanthic supposed to be a grey color instead of brown?

He could be getting anywhere close to a shed cycle and they go from silvery to brown in a hurry. To me it seems as though they go through almost daily changes until they shed. Then right back to grey they go.

Wow I found out his actual age, He was born in June 08. So he is a year and 1 month old. All this time he has been eating mice and 1 at that. I cant believe he is that age and only about 300g. I hope he starts eating well and gains good weight and starts growing some. I feel bad for him :(

He does have some brown, but the pics are a little dark. I am not saying he has a silver color either.

I dont think "bure breed" axanthics stay silver looking unless they are combined with other high yellow and/or high white morphs.

Opps i quoted the wrong person LOL!!

    Here D:!

    *UPDATE*

So it's been exactly 4 moths since I got him. He recovered very well from the frozen ordeal very well. :gj:

He has been eating good, except when in shed. I've been feeding him small rats.

He went from 296g when I received him to 916g after shed and waste now. I cant believe he gained so much weight in only 4 months and still going up. He still looks thin like a male should. He is a year and 5 months old now (17 months). I know every BP is different but whats an average weight of a 18month male BP?

Now OFCOURSE! when Im realy exited to take a scale pic of his weight and a few shots of him mostly so you guys can see, I remembered I let a friend borrow my camera... SOB! :taz:

Wow! He sure is taking off with the proper care!

I think he's at a great weight. My VPI Axanthic male is 16 months old and around the 1000g mark.

Don't worry, I got my bee when he was about 134g -- that was April 26/09 -- he hatched early October 08' -- so he was 5 months old then and barely bigger than a hatchling because he had hatched with most of his yolk attached. That boy got eating, and now is up to 700g on just weekly feedings of appropriate size feeders. I'm sure that your little one will get a goin' with regular feedings, proper husbandry and in no time he'll catch up to his age group. Just have patience and I think you will see positive results in no time.

Beautiful snake though... Thats one of the ones on my 'wish list'

***EDIT*** I guess it helps to read the ENTIRE thread before posting. I'm glad to hear he's doing well and gained a bunch of weight! Cheers!

Yes, he looks a bit skinny, but nothing a few dozen rats cannot cure.

He looks decent as far as his coloring.

You say you got him from a "Pet Store?" Like a Pet store, or Reptile Store, or what? I have to say, the only "Store" I would buy from is Ben Siegel, the Snakes At Sunset-Amir's old place, Becky's place here in CA, LLL, and maybe one or two others. With all the breeders out there, I would never buy any Ball from "just a store." I held onto a couple of iffy feeders this year, babies I produced. One did not make it, even after assist feeding, and one is thriving now after being a slow starter. I would never sell a snake in that condition.

Those pictures are from when I got him 4 months ago, I didnt realise he was so under weight until I had him in my own hands. He is no were near that thin now, But looks like he still gonna gain some weight. He is definetly not fat.

I bought him of kingsnake actualy, the people that were selling him run a pet store and they had not been able to sell him.

I should have the camera by tomorrow, Im defitnely gonna get it back since I want to go to the reptile show in Fort Lauderdale. I wish it was repticon though :taz:
