Spider for me, well its not everyday that a person who's not inclined w/ ball pythons can see a snake w/ webbed pattern and stunning white sides. :)

A young good quality pastel is more of an eye catcher than a spider imo.Especially those who don't know about morphs...

I have seen them for around $650 already, wait another year and they will be lower. Have you tried selling bodily organs to raise funds? :)

Get both and breed them together :)

I like pastels a lot though, if it would be just one snake though.

Spider. Different pattern than a normal BP.
Most people cannot tell the difference between a pastel morph and a normal except that one is brighter.
If it has a completely different pattern, even the dumbest person can tell it is not a typical BP.

My spider male is also exceptionally inquisitive and "friendly", he's great for demonstration purposes to newbies because I highly doubt he'd ever strike. On the other extreme, my killerbee male tries to eat my face every chance he gets!

I've heard spiders have a genetic tendency for inquisitive/outgoing personalities. They even say that in McCurley's book, so it must be true!

I have a pastel right now, and he is my pride and joy... but I'm getting a spider soon, so we'll see if my opinions change. ;)

Re: Which one would be more of a crowd pleaser, Spider or Pastel?
For a lay person a spider is much more of an eye catcher. To us a crappy spider vs a great pastel is a much closer contest.

So for a crowd pleaser spider all the way.

Re: Which one would be more of a crowd pleaser, Spider or Pastel?
To answer your question, it would depend on which "crowd" you're trying to impress. For folks familiar with ball pythons and fans of snakes, it's a toss-up, because everyone likes something different. But for folks who aren't familiar with ball pythons at all, and may or may not like snakes....it might not matter at all, because they would not even get the significance of either morph. For most "lay" people, a snake is a snake is a snake. And for most "lay" people who actually LIKE snakes...a normal ball python is beautiful enough all by itself to make them go WOW!

But if you want to introduce morphs to someone who is unfamiliar with them, but interested in the concept, I would definitely choose a spider. The differences between a normal and a spider are so easy to see...but to someone unfamiliar with ball pythons, a pastel would look pretty much like a normal.

Re: Which one would be more of a crowd pleaser, Spider or Pastel?
You know I have a few of both and I'll tell you that there are people that will oooo and aaaaa over a spider that will be Meh about a pastel and visa versa.

The good part about the morphs is that there are so many out there that even non snake people will find one that they like. So my suggestion is to pick one or both and go with it. I will pull things like the Enchi out and people will be all "meh its ok" but then I pull an axanthic out and they think its the best thing since sliced bred.

So in short pick what you like!

The question is which one pleases you:)? One thing is certain, there are no choices we make where everyone agrees or supports:) get what makes you excited and pleases your desire......

Re: Which one would be more of a crowd pleaser, Spider or Pastel?
I voted Pastel because whenever new people come over to see the snakes (regular people-not snake people), they always make the biggest deal about my lemon pastel. I think to the average person the color differences stand out a lot more than the pattern differences. I would have thought Spider for sure, but over and over the pastel wins out.

This is what I say. Spiders are cool and all, but normal people don't know what pattern a ball python is supposed to have. My wife even thinks spiders are nothing special. Now dangle a pretty color in front of her and she goes nuts, like a baby with a set of keys.

Haha but I think I might get a spider ball at the next expo here in houston, it matters if I think it will be better :)

Pastels! Put one of those next to a normal and any old joe could tell the difference. Some people don't notice the pattern morphs as well I think :P

    I like spiders too though!

That is true too, but the people I want to impress, I show them different morphs all the time, so I am pretty sure they can tell the difference between 'em.:)
I think people might like spider balls if you take out a spider and a normal, put them together, and then explain the major differences, such as color and pattern, and then they will be like "OMG that looks soo cool!"

Re: Which one would be more of a crowd pleaser, Spider or Pastel?
    I voted Pastel

In my experience of people who, when you pull out the snake they ask instantly "does it bite?" followed by "is it poisonous?" (in other words not fimiliar with snakes) they seem to be more impressed by a color morph vs a pattern morph. patterns don't seem to mean much to a non-snake person.

Bumblebee for sure. i said pastel because spiders are still usually brownish and the yellow of a baby is just alot different.

But deffinatley bumblebees. I love them so much. Thats the first thing I want to breed pastel and spider... :gj:
