Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
I am thinking about going to see Harry Potter today. Have any of you seen it? Was it good?

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
I have never been a fan of the movies, but my sister convinced me to go with her. We went to the 12 'o clock showing and waited two hours in line with all these adolesent children dressed in their best wizard and witch outfits. It was quite a sight to behold, some had been there since 5 in the afternoon.
I thought they did a decent job for some parts of the movie. But the climax killed it for me, they messed it up big time...:(

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
Terrible. Do not waste your money unless you enjoy 16-year-old's romance drama. Because that is how I would describe 75% of the scenes. They deviated a lot from the book, making up mushy relationships and spending most of the movie focused on these. I liked some of the older HP movies for the action, mystery, and cool special effects, but unfortunately they have really cut down on all of these in the latest movie. I think this movie was made in the spirit of "Twilight" and aimed at pre-teen girls.
But hey, if you like that kind of stuff, then maybe you'll enjoy the movie.

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
I'm not a big Harry Potter fan, I haven't read any of the books, but I have seen all of the movies. While I've enjoyed each movie to varying degrees, this was the first movie in the series that made me really anticipate the next one in the series. I thoroughly enjoyed H6!
Speaking of Twilight... they previewed New Moon prior to the movie. Talk about the worst special effects I have ever seen in a major movie. It's clear that the producers/directors of this movie care very little about it, and realize they can rake in the big cash from its teen/preteen fans regardless of whatever crap they put up on the screen.

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
they left out way to much.......

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
It's OK. They left out soooooooo much from the book to the movie. Which I understand they had to do for time constraints, but I felt they left out too much and the plot came across as fragmented. I went with people who hadn't read the books and had only seen the movies and they were confused a lot.

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
Alright...things must be said here. :)
The movie was awesome. The best one yet IMHO. Not because it told the most story from the book (that was #1), or because it had the most action (4 and 5), but because it combined all these elements well!
Movie 3 was awful because it told the least story AND all those 'extra cinematic' scenes had nothing to do with the story at all. They just wanted it to look nice.
But movie 6 still told the important, core elements of the story while still keeping it a movie that captured the attention with good cinematic effects. Yes, they left out a lot...but they had to or this movie would have been 4 hours long. What they left in, though, was what needed to be told: the story of the horcruxes and the issues with the kids in how their lives were changing.
Remember, Movies and Books are two VERY different mediums. You can do things with one that could never be done with the other. When turning one into the other, there is a lot that gets lost, changed, or reduced. That doesn't mean it's bad, it just means it's different.
And I don't know where the idea that those relationships were made up came from. Every relationship in that movie was in the book. These kids are now 16...you cannot tell a story about 16 year olds without emotional relations and kissing. :) Also, these stories are from the British Isles where they like to focus on different things from Americans. Maybe all the relationship stuff doesn't appeal to us, but it does to them.
Anyway, that's my rant for the day. :) I adore the books and (most of the) movies alike and can't wait to see what they do with movie 7.

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
I just saw it :) I am one of those that LOVED it!! It was a bit fragmanted, but I expected some of that as it was such a LONG book. This was the first time I got the feeling that it was pieced togeather. Over all I really enjoyed it. I was actually surprised at how much I did. I will definetly get the movie when it comes

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
I just saw it this morning and was please with it. I have read all the books. They did leave alot of stuff out but thats with every movie ever made after a book they never put everything into it and they will probably try to cram alot of stuff into the next two films to fill everyone in on anything missing.
Dont get me started on twilight I loved the books until I finished the last one and now I hate the entire series. The first movie was horrible. And im sure the next will be just as bad.

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
I've never read the books, and really don't pay to much attention to it at all.
That being said, I have seen all the movies and I really did enjoy this latest one.
For being so long, it seemed like about an hour long. :)

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
Oh, I'll probably be buying it as soon as it's out...which is rare for me. I prefer to buy movies cheaply. :D But I own the other 5 already and intend to have a full set. Just like the books. :)

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
As far as movies based on books go, it was alright.

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
I'm with Adriana and Angela-I loved it! And I read all the books too. The movie would be way too long if they followed the book even more than they did. And the book was vdark, and I think the directors accentuated on the ";ight and humorous" parts of the movie, instead of making it dark and depressing. A fine job, IMHO.

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
i liked it... but ya they could have made the climax better... and btw the 7th is being split into 2 movies...

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
Its AWESOME! I lovveeedd this one, very very VERY good!

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
It was good as far as a movie based on a book goes, but my main qualm was leaving out the fight at the end. I feel they could have included this without extending the movie much longer and it would have added a bit more anticipation to the next 2 movies for me.

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
Ok, you DO have a point there. We were wondering why they took the fight out... :)

Yea, I mean I was ready to bust some magic out when I was reading the book, but I can't imagine how pumped I would've been if I had seen it in front of me.

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
hey... no option for saw it and disliked it??? just saying...
also, i havent seen it yet but want to. even though i expect it to be pretty bad, since they basically get worse and worse since the 4th book...or so...
I noticed they changed and left a few things out in the 4th movie, 5th movie even more and i thought to myself, well theyll have to notice how bad its becoming.
I guess not.
I dont want to spoil it or anything but if you watched promo videos or anything they add in a death eater attack that didnt even happen in the book???? WTF is with that... and probably cut alot of stuff out... At least theyre (hopefully) going to do the last movie right, since it will be TWO movies...

Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
I really enjoyed the 6th movie. The movies will always be diffrent then the books, thats how the movie system and art world works.
-
Re: Who has seen Harry Potter 6 yet?
Yes, they added something that wasn't in the book. We talked that over and figured that the new scene was either a replacement for the fight at the end (which would have cost a ton and extended the movie) or it was a way to emphasize the personal vendetta Harry had for Bellatrix that was established more through the movies. Possibly a combo of both.
Just remember that no movie can exactly copy the book due to the huge medium differences. :)
And yes, 4 and 5 did leave out a lot...but at least they were better than 3! :D
