    Pewter Clutch gone AWRY!!
    Kinda...

    Pewter to Normal

    7 Eggs...

One went bad, one was going bad.

I kept it alive with New Skin.

And it survived!! (Can you see it in the photo?)

    Things started pipping..

    Heads came out

    http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2.../Snakes007.jpg

One had managed to pip, but didn't poke its head out

    Ouch....

    http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2...nakes001-1.jpg

    But I did get these...

    http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2.../Snakes011.jpg

    http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b2.../Snakes014.jpg

    One more to come out...

5 Pewters (one dead) and One Normal (The three out are ALL GIRLS)

Very nice Pewters Heather. I have heard from Greg Graziani before that Pewters produced from Pewters (F2's if you will) are better looking in general. I guess they become more refined. As for the dead one, did it come out of the "New Skin" egg by chance? I ask, because I hatched a female BumbleBee a couple weeks ago that came out of a "Nex Care" egg. She is still alive, but very tiny and barely absorbed any yolk. She also has a bit of a hard belly (which is odd with no yolk to solidify). I don't ever recall having problems with Liquid Band-Aid before, but I am wondering if the alternatives we are forced to use lately are doing something to the babies.

No, he came from an apparently healthy egg... I didn't expect any problems from that particular egg at all. The one on the top first left in the photos, actually. He barely slit the egg, then died.

First shed is about a week or two (depending on the animal) and first feed is a few days after the first shed. To get them established (3 meals) usually takes about a month.

These are so nice Heather! I'm sorry about the one. I had a deformed baby in my Het Pied to Poss Het Pied clutch (she is still a Poss, btw. Did not prove out). It was pretty heartbreaking.
