Re: Pic's with your GOC
No one else with guns????? Awe now I have to hit up google and youtube for my firearm fix lol.

Re: Pic's with your GOC
no gun of choice to take a pic of quite yet. i'm in the process of saving up to get a Sig P226 .22lr with the .45 conversion kit (cheaper to buy it as a .22 and get the .45 kit than the other way around). Reason being i want the .22 for sighting it in and target practice as .22 rounds a lot cheaper than .45

Probably...
The only heat I pack are potato cannons. I'm a big fan of Springfield Armory 9mms and .45s. When I have the money, an SA 9mm will be my first gun, unless I move to Vegas, in which case it will be a Mac-10, just because.

Re: Pic's with your GOC
Well Got a few pics of some of my other stuff. The pistols are my dads but they are in my safe and I shoot them more than him so here you go.
Heres my rifle not the one from the pic above. I have my scope off right now. I do not store my rifle with my scope on. That fuzzy black spot is my new kitten AKA pain in the @@@. lol

http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...r/SNC11146.jpg
My lever action .44 marlin Scope is usless iron sights on it are actually pretty good. Can shoot an apple at 150 yds no prob. I have to cheat with a bipod though not steady enough. lol.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...r/SNC11145.jpg
My 22lr's great for plinking. Nice and cheap.
CZ-USA 452 Pretty good for a 22lr can shoot a cigarette pack at 200yrds within 2 shots with this one.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...r/SNC11152.jpg
Ruger 10/22 ok but lots of stove pipe jams with these guns.
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...r/SNC11154.jpg
2 ruger redhawks
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...r/SNC11158.jpg
ruger super blackhawk
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...r/SNC11159.jpg
colt mk IV .45's
officers model
http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y27...r/SNC11157.jpg
government model thats not an extended clip I just dont leave them all the way in the gun when in the safe. And since I know someone will say something. NONE of the weapons are ever kept loaded in the house. I do however have a loaded clip in a close by spot incase its needed.

Re: Pic's with your GOC
This is what I really want. May send my 700 off to a gunsmith and have them do some upgrading. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M24_Sniper_Weapon_System

I could but they are over 5k. lol. Only cost about 2 to have my gun gone over. Granted it will never be as good as the m24 but close enough for me.

Re: Pic's with your GOC
The M24 is a good rifle, but a good gunsmith can get a regular 700 shooting just as good. If you were wanting to replicate the M24 then I would not even get the rifle smithed. Too much cash. I like the M24 but because the long action it makes feeding difficult sometimes. It is a very accurate rifle for sure. I wish I would have been able to use the new M110 before I retired. Semi-auto, with a silencer, and supposedly more accurate than the M24. Money
You can get an M24 without the deployment kit for about 3k I do believe, but if you just want a real good shooter, the 700 you have should be great, but I would rip that BSA off and throw it in the dumptster or use it as a trot line weight and get better glass. A good rule of thumb to live by is to spend as much or more on glass as you did for the rifle. not saying that your stuff isn't good, but if you want great accuracy, get good glass with the best scope rings you can get (Badgers or the like) and reload your own rounds till you get a load that your rifle likes the best.
A sniper rifle is like a guitar. You can buy the best, most expensive guitar on the market, but if it is not tuned and you do not know how to play, it will sound like garbage. Many people can shoot, a lot of people can shoot great, but you have to shoot better than that (and often) to drag out the potential in most rifles. Good glass and the right loads will do that better and cheaper than a gunsmith can. Learn how that rifle shoots clean and fouled, cold and hot, in rain and sun, and in summer and winter and keep a log of it all.
You might know all of that already, but hey, someone might not. I used to be a marksmanship instructor when I was in the USMC (before I crossed to the dark side(Army)) and most all of the problems I ever saw was the shooter, no matter what the skill level. I may not know everything about shooting, but I know an awful lot about it.
ETA: I would store that rifle with the scope on it. The scope should be torqued to a specific ammount and left unless you have a throw lever mount. Also, I wouldn't store it in that case, the foam traps moisture and can rust and pit the metal on the weapon, no matter how much oil you soak the foam in.

Good to know about the case. I did notice a bit of rust on my barrel last time out which really ticked me off. As for the scope its ok. I was saving for the leupold mk IV but had to spend it on my truck. lol.

I LOVE my sub-compact XD .40 an un-tucked shirt and it sits right in your pocket.
I also have a Mossberg 12G pump. Not a bad gun for $160! I am going to put the shorter 18 inch barrel with pistol grips for the pump and stock, I would also like to extend the magazine tube and put a heat shield on it.

Isn't this the area for off topic subjects? Just saying.
500 guns or 1 gun, it does not mean someones not gonna F with you. One good hard whack to the head with a BFR and your collection can very well be someone elses in a hurry. :)

Have all of your money almost saved and BAM.... transmission goes out, or the AC unit in the house goes out, or in my case I was hit up with a vet bill of $2,500.00 over night while my wife was on vacation two states away spending up the extra savings just because her dad decided to get remarried on a whim.

OK so I really got to looking at converting my Shotty over to pistol grips and all that jazz.
I found this: http://www.snakeriverarms.com/sitead..._10131_1_0.JPG
My order goes in Monday morning.
I figured heck spend another $50 - $100 and have 2 shotguns.

How is that to shoot I have heard lots of complaints about the fit to your hand. I was thinking about the XDM in 40 but not sure.

Re: Pic's with your GOC
OK I could not wait so I called my local academy sports and I got the Persuader model.
I liked the JIC but I figured I could make the waterproof tube with some 6" PVC, a cap, and a (I cant remember what the heck the thing is called, it has the rubber stop that expands... you know what the heck it is don't give me that look)
I will be making a few of those tubes and burying them so that if I need to I can have some guns available.

Re: Pic's with your GOC
Sorry I got distracted and that last one came out as a half thought...
Basically I saved $50 and got the same bun but with 2 more round cap and a heat shield.

Ahhh. You stole my plan, or at least one of my 47 zombie plans ;)
BTW, I used to live in Cleburne when I was two years old. I grew up more south of there, but lived in the Stephenville area for a few years before I made my way back into the military and up to Kansas.
