Has anyone used this therm/hygrometer? & a question
Taylor Indoor/Outdoor Thermometer with Indoor Humidity Gauge

    http://www.amazon.com/Taylor-Indoor-...7764417&sr=8-7

    Any other price efficient suggestions?

I want to get a matching set of these things for the new enclosure but don't want to spend $30 per gauge...

Also (possibly stupid question) does the humidity get monitored by the probe? or by the digital unit itself?

Once you factor shipping costs in with that unit it costs more than an Acurite from Walmart. Accurites work great as long as you remember to swap out the batteries every so often. They run around $12 or so.
The humidity is monitored by the unit itself, with the probe being for the "outside" temps.

This post has a good pic of the one you can find at most Walmart stores. I don't believe they have it on their site, but it can be found in store.

Thanks a million I really appreciate it.

I went and got all new hides yesterday ($1.88 each from kmart) for the bigger snakes... so that everything is up and running properly before the snakes get put in there.

You're welcome. Glad to see you are getting it all up and running before adding the snakes.

Ya.. no point in putting them in there if its "worse" than what they are in. I want to make sure humidty and temps and stuff are good first.

I use these and I get them for about ten or twelve dollars at Wal Mart and they are great. They are right on the money with my temp gun too, but if you just stand them up in the cage you might want to stand them upside down to get a better humidity reading so it does not just read your substrate.

What if I stick it on the wall mid-way up?

I think most people like to have the sensor a few inches off the substrate. Unless you are using paper towels or news papers for substrate I would think handging it a few inches off the ground would work. For paper substrate you could stand it up but the snake will keep knocking it over. I have some that are stationary and some I move around from cage to cage for different reasons. The ones I move are the ones I put upside down.

Cool thanks! Ya these will all be permanent fixtures to each cage.

As far as substrate all my snakes move the aspen bedding out from under their hides so they are directly on the pad, so to speak (with tank floor separating them). The only snake that doesnt MOVE the bedding, burrows under it...
