A hiding ball python is a happy ball python?

Just curious about that statement "A hiding ball python is a happy ball python":colbert: because my ball is out every night sitting on top of his hides and snooping around at 10 or 11 pm. Is that normal?

They are nocturnal, so them cruising around at night is pretty normal. If yours was out cruising lots during the day then something might be up. Lots of times they don't come out much until after their keepers are fast asleep.

I'm nocturnal myself, so I often get to witness the "cruising" of my BPs! Toby and Delilah are pretty lazy, but Mona loves to come out at night - especially when feeding day is close. ;)

We have 3 ball pythons and they are always hiding in their caves they never come out ....... the only time they do is when we take them out ..... Should we be concerned ????? They are growing and seam healthy they eat and shed, and are very active when we do take them out... wondering if this should be a concern?????

They tend to hide for the vast majority of the day. Some of them may not come out until 2 or 3am, so depending on your sleep schedule you may not see them much. Some people say that keeping BP's is like keeping hides and bedding as a pet;)

Hi, I don't have allot of Forum experience but am learning quite fast over the past 2 1/2 years. My first Ball which is a normal I got in 07 is now about 1150 gms. He has the most awesome personality! He will lay in his hide all day with just his head and maybe an inch of his neck poking out. Is this normal?

So it's Santa, the Tooth Fairy, and Ball Pythons??? :D

My Ball Python likes to hide but sometimes during the day when I open up his tub, he is just laying out in the middle. I do not know if this is a concern but this is what mine does sometimes.

You forgot about the Easter Bunny! Although, my BP would probably try to eat the Easter Bunny, so maybe we should just stick with the other two then! lol

I would say that a hiding BP is a happy one. That is just a generality depending on the conditions it's being kept in. A hide should be standard in every BP enclosure in my opinion. They NEED it. I hate when i see someone keeping their Ball without a hide, I can just imagine the stress they are going through!

Some of mine are more hide bound than others. Some of them are in the hide more at certain times of the year or at certain stages of their growth cycles. As long as they have what they need I figure they know where they want to be. :)
