    Jungle Carpet or Bredli Carpet
I want another snake and since I already have a ball python I want to go a bit bigger.I heard Jungles and Bredlis stay 6-8 feet and since they are semi-arboreal they won't be as thick as say a ball python. So the question is, which would you prefer a Jungle Carpet or a Bredli Carpet?

Well as I just said in your other post, my next snake is a jungle carpet, maybe a coastal carpet. I have to get some hands on experience with an adult before I decide. Luckily I a good friend of mine has a good friend who keeps a few and produces a few clutches a year. So at my friends wedding this summer I hopefully will be meeting the breeder of my next snake.

I said Jungle because I just like them :) And I have one! I can't fairly say I wouldn't like Bredli Carpets just as much, though. I've never met one.

Both! They are both great pythons, so it is hard to pick one (at least for me). Guess it depends on what kind of attributes you want in a carpet python. Jungles are smaller, but they tend to be a bit more high strung, while bredli get to be 8 ft, but are very placid and mellow as adults. Jungles can have beautiful yellow and black patterns, which is very visually appealing, while breldi can have some awesome reds and creams that I enjoy. The bredli will also change colors to some degree lightening and darkening with various temps, seasons, and maybe moods. Jungles often prefer to eat only mice, while bredli will eat ANYTHING! They are both relatively easy to keep and breed, but bredli take a little longer to mature. The decision is just too hard for me, so I have lots of both. Make sure you get something that you really like and good luck.

Jungle if your prepared to keep humidity above 50%

Bredl's if you want a hardier snake with no high humidity requirments.

Both snakes are awesome, I plan on getting a bredl's for my next snake.

Bredli's are great snakes, so laid back. Their colors are great too, they have some of the best looking, deep red tones in them. Beautiful!:gj:

I keep bredli and jungles the same as far as humidity is concerned. I don't think my humidity gets above 20% in my very dry state (UT). No shed issues with jungles. Balls on the other hand will have minor shed issues at my place from time to time, depending on the cage, but carpets very seldom to never.

I am leaning toward bredli but I heard they are a bit heavily bodied compared to other carpets and is this true?Because my dad says nothing over 5 ft. but since carpets are so slender you do not really notice how long they actually are(loophole.)

I've posted these pics before and I'd love to do so again. Same day, and set up as you'll be able to tell.

The jungle is a Will Bird animal from 08 and the Bredli is from a breeder with the initials CP. Only information I got on him besides claims to be "high cream." Bredli has went to a personal friends collection and is thriving very well. Jungle is staying here with me until I am completely consumed by the chondro bug. If the Bredli would not have went to people I talk with on a weekly basis I would have regretted my decision very much to let him go.

Both are great animals as long as they are quality. Please see Nick Mutton's collection of Bredli at inlandreptile.com. You will not be disappointed. Justin has some very nice stuff as well. I've spent a bit of time familiarizing my self with his site over the past few months.

Personally I prefer bredlis over jungles, though it's very close :D

I just love how pretty bredlis are.

Though coastals are my absolute favorite.

out of the two, i'd go for bredl's............... but yes, they can get pretty heavy bodied, at least compared to a jungle.

Personaly I would go for the Jungle Carpet Python,, cracking snake and usually have a great temperment, well in my experience they have anyway. Bredls pythons are a gorgeous snake too but they dont do as much for me. Plus,, look at the colours of a jungle carpet,, cracking and vivid..

I think a jungle carpet python would do best for me in my situation...and their pattern is gorgeous... that is definitely a snake that is crowd pleaser when you take it outside and show it off!Hey do you guys think a 6 ft. adult jungle for 200-250 bucks a good deal?

Sounds like a deal if you just want to breed without caring about quality. Hate to put it that way, but not much of a better way to word it. You're evaluating your new lifetime pet. Decide if you want a baby or adult, then the price range you want to play in. The more you pay the nicer the adult, usually. Buy from a reputable breeder. Will Leary, Will Bird, Chris Behof (BP.net member and seems like a cool guy. Great animals too boot!) John Hare (I think, I feel like I'm wrong on that name) There is so much out there you shouldn't have to settle for something you do not want.

My 05 female bredli is around 11lbs, very thick bodied but is always looking for a best friend shes around 8' I need to measure her again. My male is an 06 and weighs about 8lbs. Hes around the 7' mark and just like the female is always looking for a best friend. Any time I am around the enclosure they both come to the window to watch. They both have perches and I catch them hanging out every night.

My 07 female and male jag sibling are great also but I much prefer the bredli's.

Jungles all the way! You can't go wrong.....every time they shed they get prettier and prettier for the first few years if you get good stock....makes it sooooo addicting.

I've been reading up a lot about different carpets and so far I think the Jags are the coolest. Though, I do LOVE the Jungles as well. I've heard the Bredli's are pretty calm and not that nippy like the Jungles tend to be when babies/juveniles. Though, through time the Jungles get nicer and not as nippy. I chose the JCP, I really like them :].

Re: Jungle Carpet or Bredli Carpet
I don't know where this "comparing nippiness of carpet subspecies" started, but IMO it's most likely a load of hooey. If you want a snake that isn't nippy, look for one that isn't nippy. You'll find aggressive hatchlings among all carpet subspecies, and you'll find calm ones too. Get the kind of snake you like, but put in the effort to find one that has the looks and temperment you're looking for! :gj:

It really all depends on what you want, I however like the JCP. Especially if you get a nice quality(color) one.

I chose Bredli, because of their rich reddish color and pattern. Also because I just bought one ;)

Why Debate what one at all? Once you buy either, your going to end up with both. :)

Bredli's are sweet, tame big bodied very hardy. Hell of a feeding response but awesome.

Jungles it depends on the bloodline and a few things, but I would suggest you pick up a jungle selectively bred as oppose to a random one, you pay for what you get, and some adult jungles aren't worth the cost of shipping. While they are smaller than the bredli, a nice jungle is hard to beat, electirc yellow's, velvet blacks, there one of the most spectacular visual appealing pythons.

    Get 2.2's of each!

As soon as you walk in the room their moving all around wanting to be handle. When i get either out i have hell of a time getting back in their cages. They just love to explore. I just get one of each you can't go wrong.:banana::banana:

I really don't know. I really do want to get a bigger snake than a ball python but with space and food issues, I'll stick with ball pythons.

I chose Jungle Carpet but I wanted to choose Bredli because I actually like them better. My mistake. Also size is a factor for me. I like the larger snakes (only snakes, im straight).
