Question!!!???
I have a question. How can a kid like me aged 15 make extra money to get maybe more reptiles/supplies etc...
It's real hard to buy everything in the shops when it cost me a arm and a leg everytime I walk into it!

Have you considered writing fiction? Crime novels perhaps? Stories about human nature?
Or, get a lawn mower and start knocking on doors.
-
Re: Question!!!???
you could mow lawns, rake leaves, wash cars, deliver newspapers, walk dogs...... use you imagination.
-
Re: Question!!!???
Not sure about the law where you live when it come to work but the best thing would be for you to look into that and see if you are allowed to get a job at 15.
If not offer your services to the neighboors (washing cars, mowing lowns etc)

Re: Question!!!???
Well, a good thing to always do is save up some money, like put it in a jar or keep it somewhere that you'll remember so you can get back to it when you need money.
Also, try doing some jobs to make a little money such as dog or baby sitting, mowing lawns (not sure if ppl still do that.. but I know you can't down here in AZ bcuz its WAYY too hot lol), cleaning (like helping your parents clean, or maybe friends or close family friends and family members), etc.

Re: Question!!!???
you can also come to the east coast and clean up my snake poop:grabbed:
-
Re: Question!!!???
I have a friend who started mowing lawns when he was 13, by the time he was a senior in high school, his lawn service was big enough that both his parents went to work for him.
-
Re: Question!!!???
what i do is just ask my parent if there is anyting 2 do, then if there is i do it. then ur neighbors would see you mowing the lawn washing cars etc... and theyll be likje oh you want to do my for some $$

Re: Question!!!???
Thanks guys, I was trying look up on classifieds and look for wanteds and for sale and what I am trying to do is buy a cornsnake for example for 40 bucks then sell it for 60-70. You make a profit out of it but it's a hard job! Do you think I should carry on with it?

you will end up spending more on feed, enclosures, and proper husbandry. Unless you are getting snakes wholesale, you will end up in debt. trust me if it was that easy we would all be doing it.

Re: Question!!!???
IMO most kids have too easy these days, It's our fault as parents. I admit I spoiled my kids, my youngest is 19 and has not worked a day in her life, When I was 14 I had 2 part-time jobs.

Re: Question!!!???
BTW everyone I have a paper route but thats to small pay for my likings!
-
Re: Question!!!???
id say get a job or start doing odds and ends things for neighbors parents..
my friend is 16 and owns his own lawn care business
as for flip flopping the snakes, that makes me sick. By you saying that you want to do that gives people a bad impression about you. It says your in it for the money and not for the love of the animals. Along with turning around and selling the snakes for profit, you say you want to breed too which is probably also for the money.

Yes, because what I do is contact the guy that wants it and say I have it and say all the info about it and then if he is interested I call the seller up and say I am interested! Little do they no I am really not interested in the animal(s) I just want to sell it FOR MORE!

Re: Question!!!???

Breeding is not for the money and you got it all wrong! I am just asking how I can make more money to maintain my collection without going broke. Also I am wanting to make extra money because if I see a snake/reptile I want I don't have to save up for it I can just purchase it.

I swear I am not. It's just a way to make some money. It's basically you going to a sports events and you see scouts selling there tickets for triple the real price. I know there in it for the money but I am for sure not.

Re: Question!!!???
baseball tickets and flipping living creatures is a whole different thing.

So your saying that the life of an animal is just as valuable as a piece of paper?
-
Re: Question!!!???
how is it wrong? thats the impression i got from reading what you wrote. get a job to support your reptiles, if you dont have the money to support them then your in the wrong hobby.
as for the people who sell ticketss for triple the price.... TICKETS ARENT A LIVING, BREATHING ANIMAL. You said your using an animals life the benefit your own.
-
Re: Question!!!???
Alright well I'll sleep on it and will decide what to do. But after reading everyones comments I won't do buying and then selling anymore.
Daniel

Re: Question!!!???

-
Re: Question!!!???
Well Look you can't believe me but I will not be doing it thats the truth. I'll probably start something like a lawn thing or babysitting animals while people are on vacation.

Re: Question!!!???
Go and see if your local City offices need student summer help, Many police station, court houses and other city branches will happly hire local students over the summer. Also check with your state represenetives that have offices in your city they hire students to answer the phones, lick envlopes all kinds of stuff. The best part of those places is they are closed on the weekends. Check with your local Newpapers and News or radio stations there loads of great small jobs that teens can do when you start to think outside the box.
Also one company that I'd suggest getting on with is Chick-fil-a. They are fantastic company for teens to work for..

Re: Question!!!???
When I was 15, I had my parents sign a form to allow me to work. My friend's stepdad got me a job at a restaurant. But, I was allowed to drive when I was 15. Not sure what the laws are in your state.

Re: Question!!!???
There is nothing wrong with buying an animal to sell it.
If you tell the buyer all the facts, that you didn't hatch it, you don't have it, any guarantee, then there is no problem.
Any of you who think buying and selling is beneath you, well, you can go pound sand. It's a living for many and quite a good one for some.
Anything can be a commodity provided there is a demand for it.
I personally buy and sell snakes every year and I have for longer than most of you have been alive. It's never been a secret.
Do any of you want to tell me what a terrible person I am? If you do, think twice and remember, I'm not always as nice as I am right now.
Daniel, you talk too much.
Do you have a father, grandfather, uncle, kindly neighbor or even a teacher you could talk to in person? If so, do it.
-
Re: Question!!!???
i dont think it makes you a terrible person. I think its a terrible idea to do that to an animal. An exception would be a rescued animal or an animal that is in need of help. Or a group buy or trade. I dont think someone should go out of their way to make money off of another living thing.
I respect the fact that you make the buyer aware of whats going on. Personally I wouldnt buy an animal that is being flip flopped
Thats just my opinion
