sensitive? sneezing?
Ok Rios is being a bit sensitive... He is finally gettiing use to me handling him and is getting to where he will chill with me on the couch while I watch TV.... He hides in one of the blankets that i have there and I keep my hand uder it with him... Now there is one blanket that if he gets into it he will sneeze... only one or two sneezes. and that is the only place that he sneezes.....
Any one else have such a sensitive snake?

Re: sensitive? sneezing?
Sounds like your snake is allergic to his Respiratory Infection.
I'd have a good Herp Vet check him out just to be safe.

An alergic snake? is that possible?
I figure that it is the fibers from that blanket that are tickling his nose....lol. That is the only time that he has made that noise, and it has only happened twice.

Re: sensitive? sneezing?
Haha no he's not allergic to anything
BUT, sneezing sounding noises are characteristic of Respiratory Infections, therefore I recommended the vet visit.
What kind of temperatures are you keeping him at?
Hot side....cool side....and ambient temps?

He only makes that noise when he is one the couch with me and has only made that noise twice........ Just want to make sure every one understands that.....
Now his hot side is kept at 89-91 and his cold side is kept at 85 ... humidity is at 40-50 when not in shed and 70 when in shed.... has five hides, multiple bushes two water bowls, awesome eater, crushed walnut for substrate, and is only cruising around his tank at night. and is eating about ever four days currently.... He is an 09 baby.
We were at the vet last week for a check up and the vet gave him a clean bill of health.

Re: sensitive? sneezing?
Could be stuck shed in the nostril. :/ Just a thought.

Re: sensitive? sneezing?
There was one time I noticed one of my BPs make a sneeze-like sound. She had spilled her water and there was a lot of condensation inside the tub, and in the process of taking her out, one of the drops of water landed right on her nose and went in her nostrils. She did not make the sneeze sound right away, but after I'd cleaned/dried the tub and put her away, a sound that really sounded very much like a sneeze came from her general direction.
Was it really a sneeze? I don't know. I can't even be 100% sure it was her that made the sound. Maybe it was more of a snort than a true sneeze. But I believe it was her and it was related to the water that got in her nose.
If your snake makes sounds like that with any consistency, I would be concerned about an RI, as others have already mentioned.

Re: sensitive? sneezing?
Thanks.. I will have to check for stuck shed, but in all reality I think that the blanket tickled the inside of his nostril and that was what caused the sound.

My BP's randomly hiss once in a while...
