Cost of hobby / husbandry in Europe???
    Ok long story short....
I'm moving and in 75% I'm going back to Europe
I'm originally from Poland but I wanna move to England or Ireland
    And I have few questions
What are the basic costs of keeping ball pythons in Europe ?
I'm loking for average prices in EU or £ for
    Tanks / Tubs / Racks
    UHT
    Bedding
    Feeders ( mice rats )
And I'm looking for average prices for adult normals females and basic morph prices like pastel, spider, albino, yellowbelly
If you have any links for reptile supply pages and breeders in UK and Ireland that will be helpful to

    Hi I'm Brian.

I actually also have polish roots, my mom is polish, and I speak polish. But I have never learned to write/read in polish. Anyway I live in Denmark and I have lived here my entire life. I'm 30 by the way.

I have one snake and it's an ivory bp - I paid 1.500€ for her (you can see her in my gallery). And she is living in a Herptek terrarium (120X70) and I paid 400€ for that terrarium. And heat, light, hides etc. around 200€. That is my example.. Oh yeah and I give her rats and I pay around 5€ for one rat.

But check out these links they will give you an idea about prices in EU:

    http://www.szrek.pl/ (polish link :))

    Hope this can help?!

And another thing.. Why do you want to move back to Europe??? Where I live I pay 50 cent in tax for every buck I earn! My car usually costs around 15.000$ but because of danish taxes I have paid 40.000$ for it! A gallon of fuel is how much around 1,60$? In Denmark it costs 4 times more! Yes 4 times! And the same goes for Poland - a gallon of fuel is about 4 times more expensive than in the US.

I love Florida and if I could I would move overthere tomorrow and stay there for the rest of my life :) But I don't know how to get a greencard? Anyone that will marry me for a couple of thousands:)

And let's not forget about the awful weather in Europe:)

Reading this I guess all you americans can see I really love United States:)

Damm 2000 zl for normal bp :o that over 600$ :o
Hmm that's kind of crazy _cause its like average paycheck for a one month in Poland
I'm originally from Poznan its a 700000 people town in central/west Poland

Yes I know Europe is tough and this is why I moved to US but economy suck more and more so I'm forced to abandon this little hole wher I live in Florida

I think I'm gonna stay in US for a while but move to bigger city where possibilities of getting job are biger as well

And if so that let me keep as well my babies because I don't see how I can take with me to Europe lol

Any prices from UK and Ireland anyway just curious ?

Here are some very approximate prices for the UK, in pounds
    Vision CB70 rack £778 (shipping is a killer) =$1261
    Habistat pulse proportional thermostat £40-45 = $64-72
    Bale of Aspen 13.6kg £20-25
    Pastel balls 09's £200-400 =$325-$650
    Spider Ball £300-400
    Lesser platty £600 =$972
    Bumblebee £800 =$1300
    Yellowbelly £200(m)£400(f)
    Pied £1200-1800
    Albinos £450-600
    Superstripes £5000 =$8100
    Champagnes £2600 (F) £4900(m)

And with the pound being pretty weak at the moment, Hamm is no longer the bargain basement it used to be for us Brits -)

A question to the europeans here: Is it true that it is illegal to feed live over there? I'm pretty sure at least I've heard that it's illegal in the UK.

Its a bit of a grey area to be honest, the RSPCA (royal society for prevention of cruelty to animals) dont ban it, but it is kind of approved for feeding an animal that without live prey would die.
personally i only feed frozen thawed, i have around 30 balls and a dozen hognose's, and so far in all my years of keeping has not really been a big issue for me.
Its far easier to have a well stocked freezer, than have to look after loads of rodents.
I buy a few months food at a time, and it works for me.
many people breed their own, and feed live or fresh killed.
But i think us brits are probably not the norm, i think live is more common in other parts of europe.

It isn't just the financial cost you have to consider.

Add in the regulatory cost and the cost of being vulnerable to animal rights legislation and the RSPCA and then reconsider.

Take a look at the following sites to see the real problems in the UK:

    Hi,

    Have you tried these guys?

I needed a closed rack though so I went down the self-build route.
