    Desert Ghosts
Just thought we'd post up a pic of our Desert Ghost clutch. We got really blessed from the morph gods. We had het x het purchased from Reptile Industries (mark and Kim Bell) and had our fingers crossed for one homozygous. We totally lucked out and got 1.2 Desert Ghosts and 1.2 66% pos hets. Hope our luck holds for the rest of the season. Here is a post shed picture of the clutch...

Desert Ghosts, or the Desert x ghost? I'm just confused. Either way, great clutch!

These are the recessive Desert Ghosts. They lighten up as they age. this thread shows an example of an adult and a hatchling.

Wow! I have loved the Desert Ghosts ever since I saw them in person at NERD. I never realized that they hatched looking like bright normals and obtained the ghost look as they aged. I love learning something new!

    They are stunning babies! Congratulations!!!!

    Thanks a bunch...

Not much has been published about desert ghosts because there aren't that many around, but we're going to do a chronological pictorial after every shed and post it on our Vault News page on our website. When the transformation is complete, we can compile the photos into a flash video to show the hatchling to adult transition.

It's going to take a while, but we are definitely going to document it...

I was wondering "They don't look like Desert Ghosts" but then you said they lighten with age, and thats the dg I am familiar with!Very awesome, and very jealous, all I gots are 2 normals:) So all it is is a Desert to a Ghost?Does it matter what ghost you use? Also how much are desert balls as babies, both genders?Sorry for all the questions, Peace!

No...it's a base morph called "Desert Ghost"...not at all related to the pattern morph known as Desert.

And I too, did not realize the babies started out so yellow! I saw those and immediately thought, "Those don't look like DG's to me..." But now I see that they do. Thanks for the lesson! I have to echo what so many others have said...one of my all time favorite morphs and I can't wait to see more and work with some myself someday! Yours are stunning and I will eagerly wait to watch them grow up in pictures!

    All,

Just to clear up confusion, the Desert Ball is a dominant, possibly co-dominant mutation... completely different from the Desert Ghost.

The Desert Ghost is a recessive mutation, base morph, all on its own; not a cross with any hypo/ghost or anything else.

Oh yea....I'm so ignorant at some times :)
I remembered when I browsed ball python morphs that desert ghosts are a base morph.

    Silly me :)
