A pleasant surprise from a buddy
Well I thought today couldn't get any better and then I got home from work and my buddy had a surprise for me. Let me know what you think of my new little one.

No, it's not a genetic stripe. They don't have that kind of pattern on the sides. It's a normal wild type ball python though it does have a very nice stripe. $50.00 is a little high for a normal, but then again that depends on whether or not it's worth it to you.

I was just in the local reptile shop and he has a very nice normal going for $100. He would probly do the same with the normal in this thread too. I think it just depends on the pattern of the snake.

Did your friend maybe say the snake was "het" stripe?

Assuming the snakes parents were striped like the baby then it could be that the snakes striped apperance is a genetic thing. Granted it would not be called a genetic stripe but one could say it has a stripe that is genetic. Just figured I would throw that in there in case the friend that sold this snake is actually proved the stripe on this snakes back as genetic.

he told me genetic as in the parents were stripes and they produced 50% normals and 50% stripes. So would that still be considered genetic or would I have to wait to breed him and see if its genetic?

this is another one my buddy was wanting to know if I was interested in. I want to say he told me this one is a reduced pattern?

It has reduced patterning, but it is not completely reduced - there are still alien eyes in some of the side patterns.

THIS is a genetic stripe ball python, yours is not what is referred to as the Genetic Stripe mutation:

The trait may be genetic, but it's not what those in the industry think of when you say "Genetic Striped". The link above shows a true Genetic Striped.

He's still a very lovely looking snake - I love normals!

That other one looks semi reduced pattern, but like someone else said it does have some alien eyed pattern. Here's a pic of my proven reduced pattern to compair
