    Why not
Why have you not tried a linux based operating system? Why not take the plunge and try a new OS?

Why do you use windows over linux?

I have tried a few versions and liked them for the most part. My biggest issue is compatibility with certain things. My family has 4 iphones and we need to use iTunes (without running circles).
I do love how fast Linux runs, wish my Win machines were that fast.

Windows offers a more spectrum of programs and compatibility with drivers and programs working with the new hardware coming out each year. Also directX 10 is another reason i stay with windows.

I work on computers all day long,fixing/repairing/upgrading/building and Windows is by far the easiest when looking for drivers from manufactures.

Wine or VirtualBox works great for when you need to run windows/programs :)

    To be perfectly honest?

After four years of using linux and windows xp side by side, I found I worked faster on Windows.

Even with four years of using linux, I didn't gain the familiarity with it that a lifetime of using various versions of windows (from 3.1 to XP) gave me. Familiarity with a complex system is extremely important in determining productivity, much more so than trying to choose a slightly more optimal system.

I do all my python programming on windows nowadays.

However for certain aspects in recreational programming, linux is the only way to go.

I do coding but I require Photoshop for 90% of my graphic work and frankly I like Windows 7. Nothing against Linux, I have a laptop that runs Xubuntu exclusively, I just need something a little more main stream.

It is a hassle when you need programs like dreamweaver and photoshop. I do run winxp for that one reason. I have ubuntu on the laptop and my wife is loving it.

I'm running the 64 bit version of Ubuntu Jaunty right now. :D

It is awesome, and all the programs are free. You can't argue with that! :gj:
