Yeah, my cats are about 12-16 pounds as a rough guess, but his cat is literally GIGANTO.

Re: Any one else have a chunky kittie?
Do these giant kitties have health problems like diabetes?
At the adoption fair at my Petsmart, one of the foster moms said "I love my cats to be fat", and I'm thinking, but that's not healthy for them, why would you intentionally feed them to be fat?
I had commented that Sammy (who I adopted at about a year old) was going on a diet because he was so big for his age, and I'd already dealt with diabetes in one cat (although, she wasn't an overweight cat), and I didn't want to have to do it again. She was his foster mom, and that's when she told me she liked her cats to be chunky and fat.

Cute, but can't be healthy. Of course, I know that getting a fat lazy cat to lose weight is NOT easy. Dogs are always open to exercise. Cats...not so much.

Here's Boogie. At his max he was 25 lbs. He passed away last Nov of cancer. He had already started losing weight at this point. We sure do miss him.

Surprisingly, Kiki (even at his peak of 28 pounds) is in perfect health. No Diabetes or unusual health issues. He just liked to eat a lot, but after my boyfriend got him from his aunt, he is now feeding him less and at scheduled times rather than leaving food out all day.

is it a Maine Coon? they average 15-18 pounds (According to a couple sites) but i've seen quite a few in the mid 20s.

Re: Any one else have a chunky kittie?
My cat Cyrus LOOKS fat, but it's all fur - he only weighs about 10lbs.

Then there was Simon, my mother's cat who unfortunately died of a brain tumor at age 3. :( He weighed in at a whopping 25lbs by the time he was 1!

Wish I had a better picture, but this is my friend's cat Indy (aka "Poopie") who is super chunky...

Re: Any one else have a chunky kittie?
The largest breed I think is the rag doll cats, who can easily weigh close to 20 pounds and be fit and prim. But for general english tabbies and what not, 12-15 pounds is the usual weight. Some can be smaller of course, depends on the build of the cat.
If the vet says your cat is fat, then he must be. :gj:

Re: Any one else have a chunky kittie?
I have a cat that is 1/3 African Serval Cat and 2/3 Tabby ... last I weighed him, he was 31 pounds of pure muscle,
there is not an ounce of fat on him. He stands over a foot tall and is the biggest cuddlebug in the world.

Here's my chunky kitty!
He's the big gray one (in case you couldn't tell which one is chunky...)

And this shows the size difference in him and his *older* 'brother' (they aren't from the same parents)

Re: Any one else have a chunky kittie?
Here is my chunky kitty "Mitsi"..She's pretty much always been a bit on the big side for as long as I can remember..she is 11 years old now but gets around just fine and with the exception of having lost most of her teeth is in great health :0)

The kitten next to her is Whisper when he was little..but he is a full grown boy now..but he's not chunky at all..He's just all muscle... :0)
And here is Joe's (my fiance) old cat Ralph...Sadly we had to put him down a little while back because his bladder started to fail on him and so many other problems started to arise..He was 15 when he died..but he was definitely a big kitty..and yes he was a main coon :0)

Mitsi and Ralph together (this was a rare shot because they hated each other!! lol)

We miss Ralph so much still..He truely was a very nice cat (once he got to know you..heh)
