I'm sure that's for the other, non-snake items/animals he sells. Ken is a good guy, and honest to a fault. I'd buy from him.

That is a end quote in every ad he only ships non living items usps. He has anywhere from 20-40 packages going out every shipping day and he wouldn't jeapordize a animal ever. Ken is a great guy. As for the Tequila Ball we will only see with a few years breeding I have a 1.2 trio that I am going to mix over the next few seasons into a few codoms and see what we get. There are several different generations with this name and all have identical markings as the appartent original begining male. Like I said only time will tell but as he said on his fauna thread he would garranty that if it didn't prove something different he would refund the purchase price. I think that is a hell of a garranty.

Re: Tequila ball
It is a very cool looking snake. Good luck!

Re: Tequila ball
Aye, I would buy from Ken in a heartbeat. He is a good guy, and honest.

This.
Are these an unproven trait he tagging with a spiffy new 'morph' name? I feel this may be a bit misleading to potential costumers. What is wrong with naming it 'unusual looking normal'?

Re: Tequila ball
Seriously, i wonder if people even READ the ad. Why dont you guys do that before passing judgment.
"Frankly, the breeder made up the name, and I have no history on these at all."
Oi. Hes being COMPLETELY honest.
-
Re: Tequila ball
My only comment to all of this, is if I was going to attempt to sell a normal for $250, I would at least peel off all of the stuck shed before taking a picture of the ball.

I think the subject heading is misleading. He could have mentioned the whole 'Tequila' aspect of the animal in the body of the ad. I see he is being honest. But tag it as being 'potential new morph'. I just have an issue with selling an animal as a new trait that has yet to be proven. Just my opinion tho. :)
-
Re: Tequila ball
see the key phrase used there is "potential new morph" potential means it might be and might not be so with that being said that would mean it is NOT proven yet.
as to Ken I'd buy from him any day of the week.

Re: Tequila ball
Ken is a good guy.
If you need your ads dumbed down anymore than his, which tell you with great exactitude what he specifically does and does not know, then perhaps you should not be purchasing online without supervision.

Hmmmmm, so either you have a fantastic sense of humor or a teeny tiny itsy bitsy reproductive protuberance.
I'd rather chuckle than sneer so I'll take fantastic sense of humor for 100.00 please.

That's cute. :)
It's completely understandable that you are standing up for Ken. Never did I question him as an individual. Rather I questioned the animal he was selling and how he was advertising it.
I am sure Ken is a great guy Wes. A normal ball python with stuck shed isn't worth $250.
It's an opinion...that's all.

I completely agree.
Can't prove it's a normal though. In fact, there are others out there who also think this is something to work with. I don't think Ken mentioned that but if he had it would have lent a bit more credence to his ad.
The stuck shed is not good and I'll not excuse him on that one but I will say this, he sells more snakes in a year than most will ever see.

I know nothing about the seller so I can't say anything other than what my first impression is of the ad/pictures. I wouldn't be jumping to buy based on the pictures. The first snake looks pretty thin to me along with the stuck shed.

Re: Tequila ball
Looks like a nice normal.Maybe he is a great guy but that dose not mean someone didnt pass them off as overglorified normals...i would not buy this pair for $400 even if he will refound if no morphs..cant risk it at this time...
TeQuila ball dose not fit this snake anyway. must have ben drinking Tequila when he named it...:8:

Nor does it mean, as you imply, that someone DID pass them off as overglorified normals.
In fact, having actually read the ad, I see that Ken has SPECIFICALLY stated that he has no clue what is up but that there might be something going on.
How many dinker projects started out just this way?
Baker, how's that normal looking SPECIAL working out for you in your brand new home?
Lighten up people, he has NOT misrepresented anything.

Re: Tequila ball
Geez I did want to open a can of worms...... All I was asking was th sig. Of this animal if anyone knew.. Ken is a awsome guy and I go fox his shop every oncenina while ,I would go more often but it to far of a drive.....I just thought this was one of those morphs that are tricky to see with a untrained eye. If you don't know what your looking for... And if someone would explain it so I may see it also...I have several snakes from ken and will apologize for any misunderstanding

Re: Tequila ball
I'll tell you all this. Don't Buy Them...... I have a Trio and if they prove out next season them It's great if they don't the so be it. Look at Russo's het BEL, and Tom Baker's Special, and even Amir's Mocha. All were said to be Normals. I think the header is what gets you to look at the ad. Read the ad and then see he doesn't claim its anything other than a Ball Python. There are adults and sub adults and even a baby that appears to be a late 08 or early 09. So that there made me want to give it a chance. I think that only time will tell and everyone knows me I can't keep a secret so we will see what the next season or 2 bring us lol. As far as the name it was named after the breeders favorite drink as I was told.

yes but just adding the word potential is misleading. If you honestly dont know the genetics then its a normal and it should not be sold for more than what a normal of that size would go for. Just my Opinion.

Based off this definition:
Quote:
Having possibility, capability, or power.
I don't think potential is a misleading word for this ad. I wouldn't buy into them based off their stuck shed (c'mon a little warm water and 4-5 minutes tops to take it off, I don't care who you are that's a unacceptable for a for sale picture).

So I can take my dark female and sell her as a potential chocolate which I was told she was and then whomever buys her can sell her for a bunch of money and say shes a potential chocolate and that would be ok?? What I am getting at is if you got something and are trying to sell it as possibly something more than it is, then how hard is it to ask the breeder you got it from to show you the genetics? If he cannot then its a normal. Now if he said heres the parents this is what they did or here's some offspring of the animal in question and they are obviously not normal then fine. But he can't prove anything therefore asking $200 for a normal is ridiculous. Now if he came out ans said HEy I have this snake (or two i believe is what he has) they have some interesting coloration /pattern etc. They would make a good dinker project. that would be fine. But he had to add the tequila ball thing which someone new to the trade may seems is something new and end up getting ripped off. I have nothing against Ken I have gone to the store many times and they have some awesome stuff but this ad just rubs me the wrong way.
