What's an effective way to stick plants on a glass tank?

I heard using suction cups, but those aren't cutting it for me. I know tape is out of the question.

These suctions cups are way too big and tacky. The plant vine is barely hanging on anyway. I want it to be nice and sturdy.

Hot glue maybe? It will just be a pain for the monthly cleanings.
I use these dinky little suction cups that came with my plants and they've worked fine. Although, my bp isn't really a climber.

Just noticed from the pics: do you have anything covering the back and sides of the tank? It will help with the security of the bp, as they don't like the open spaces.

I'm just getting this tank ready for him. He's currently in a 10 gallon right now, while his new home here is getting warm and ready. I have extra insulation boards that I'm going to paint black to put outside the tank so he can feel safe and secure. I'm also gonna use that Zoo Med cork tile for the inside.

Glad you're getting everything ready beforehand.

It depends....if you want it to be permanent, you can use aquarium sliicone or a hot glue gun.If not, I would just stick with the suction cups. A permanet fixture may look cool in the beginning, but may end up being a PIA to clean.

Yeah, I wouldn't want to do that. I guess I'll stick with the suction cups. I just don't want my Pennyworth to climb and then fall on his fragile, little tummy. I'm planning to make a rack in the near future anyway. Thanks everyone. :)

I'd use hot glue gun... it comes off with a little tug and flick. May leave some residue but that shouldn't matter unless you're picky. (then just use some WD-40 and it's off)

I've never used that cork or styrofoam scenery. I wouldn't mind it but I can't think of a good way to clean it effectively when it gets pee and poo on it. Maybe I will get a small piece and try it. As for the vine issue, I am working on this myself. My adult BP keeps tring to climb in them and constantly tearing them down. I'm afraid he is going to cut himself on the little metal hooks even though I bent them under. What I am trying is I went to a crafts store (Michaels) and got these little bamboo sticks. I got like a package of 6 or 8 for $3. I cut them down to about 35 & 1/2 inches so they will fit in the tank. Then I took the little plant suction cups and removed the metal hooks and stuck the suction cups into the bamboo sticks. Tonight I plan on putting the sticks high enough in the tank so the snake can't climb on them, then I will wrap the vines around the sticka and let them dangle. If it works I'll post some pics of it... Rob

Don't use cork inside, it'll just be a mess to clean. Use it outside instead. :)

To stick plants, I thin down about 6-8" of the wire and fold it over the lip of the tank, then use gorilla tape OUTside the tank to stick the wire down. No danger to the snakes, and the tank still looks nice with the plants. :)

Immy, I would get that rack built as soon as you can, if you plan on having more snakes in the future.I feel your pain, cause some time ago I used to have all my guys in tanks. My collection grew...When I discovered a rack was not that hard (or expensive) to make, I decided I would NEVER go back to glass tanks again. (except for maybe 1 "display" snake enclosure). A rack is much easier to maintain, and takes up much less space, especially if your collection is going to grow. Plus, building it yourself allows you to customize - having different sized spaces, for different sized snakes, makes it easier to house them all in one space. Not to mention, you have more control over temps and humidity. Good luck, man...."once you go RACK, you never go back!!" (to tanks, that is) :P

I have a rack that I built, and I used 90qt tubs (12" tall but otherwise just the same as a 41qt), and I HATE the thing! I just can not get tubs to work for me - alone or in a rack. I am in the (slow) process of building stackable cages for my BPs instead so I can get them out of those horrid tubs. :)
For me, tanks are the BOMB! They keep temperatures and humidity spot on once I've augmented them a bit. I'm almost sad to have the two BPs in tanks leave them for the display cages. :)
