Male or female? (spider)

I was planning to get a mojave or albino next, but had a change of heart and decided to get a spider... I just think it would be a better visual compared to my others, and there's so much you can do with them morph-wise. Plus, I keep hearing they have great personalities! :) A little worried about the wobble thing, but I'll ask any breeder about that before purchasing.

So here's my question... I already have a baby male pastel & two normal females (one yearling and one adult proven breeder). Considering what I have to work with already, do you think I should get a male or female spider? I'm planning to get a hatchling, both due to pricing and wanting to raise it myself. My breeding plan is to eventually make some bumblebees, and hopefully killer bees & other combo-morphs one day. A female spider could pair with Toby, but not for a few years - whereas a male could breed with my normal next year (or the following), producing spiders/norms until I have a female pastel for him. So which gender makes more sense, and would help me to reach my goals more quickly? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

P.S. Can somebody post pictures of what they consider a "good looking" spider? I'm still new to this, and having trouble knowing what to look for... I know it's mostly personal preference, but they ALL look pretty to me, LOL. ;)

If price is your biggest concern I would get a male.
If you want to produce bumblebees as fast as possible, get a female
If you want to produce anything as fast as possible, get a male.

It is really up to you and how much you want to spend!

I wouldn't say price is my biggest concern, but right now money is a little tight... can't really spare more than $300 (including shipping), and prefer to spend closer to $250. I've found hatchling spiders of both genders in this price range, although males are a little cheaper & more available. Huh. :weirdface

I emailed the breeder of the snake in that first link, to inquire about shipping costs and so forth. We'll see what happens, but maybe I should choose based on looks - and worry about gender/pairing later.

if it was me i would buy a male produce some spiders and put them up for sale then assuming you sell enough buy a bigger pastel female so then you will have bee options or super pastel options

Thanks Matt - that sounds like a logical plan, and was (sorta) one that occurred to me. I just love my pastel so much, I want to breed him with the spider... but I can always breed him to the 0.1 pastel & make supers, like you said. He'd produce one heckuva killer super, IMO. :)

Oh, and this guy is (or was, as of a few days ago) available through a local breeder - $250 with no shipping, since I'd go pick him up. He looks to have quite a few spots, but I think he's rather pretty:

Yeah, that last one is a beauty... I was just having trouble judging him against the others, since he looks to be right out of the egg. Will he darken significantly as he grows? I love how light his coloring is, so I hope not too much! It would also be nice to buy locally, to avoid the cost and stress (to the snake) of shipping.

Females are harder to find, because breeders like to hang on to their females, that's one reason why females are generally more than males (supply and demand).

My personal preference - I want a light spider, with absolutely no spots in their pattern. I used to be a low white fan, until I saw high white in person. Now I prefer high white over low white. High white will make prettier bees.

I also like the head pattern to be perfectly symmetrical.

Beautiful snakes! :) I think I'm partial to the lighter colored ones, and the high white is pretty cool... love the stripes on those first two pictured.

If it were me I'd definitely go with a male. I'd breed him to the adult normal female and hopefully hatch out some spiders; hold back a female if there is one, and sell the rest. Then with that money I'd get a large female pastel to produce bee's.

she's got a few spots but i think they add to her pattern. One of my favorite things about her (other than her endless apatite :) ) is her head pattern. it almost looks like a spade. I would consider her medium to high white.

She's a pretty girl, Cinderbird! I like a few spots too, as long as they don't look "messy" (which hers do not), and that head pattern is great. :)

Here are the two spiders that local breeder has, and one (of four available) I found on a KS ad... whaddya think? I'll probably go with the local guy, since he has a great reputation - and then if anything goes wrong, I know he's only a 30-minute drive away.
