    Good deal/mojave??
I was perusing craigslist the other day, and came across an ad for baby mojaves... I emailed for prices and pictures, and he responded that the males are $250 (no shipping since he's local). I then looked up the breeder's name on Fauna, and he has nothing but glowing reviews! :gj:

Now here's where I need some advice... I'm not an "expert" on mojaves (or any other morph, for that matter), so I don't really know how to judge them. I think he looks darned good, but would love a few outside opinions - just to know I'm not missing something. Also, is this a good price for a hatchling mojo? I was planning to wait for my next purchase until the San Jose show in August, but if this guy is a great deal there's no reason to wait. Right? :D Here's a picture of the little guy, if it's okay for me to post... he had two others I can show you as well, but this one grabbed me first:

250 is probably right on for a mojo. That one looks pretty good to me :)

Thanks for the response! So...... do you think I'd find something better at the show, or should I jump on this one? I've only been to one show so far, and I was actually disappointed at the selection - but that was back in May, before most clutches were hatching (according to a breeder I spoke with).

I'd say $250 is just about right for a male mojave.

Depends on what kind of mojo you like. Some can be very dark and contrasty with little blushing and others can be bright with loads of blushing along the sides. I like a blend of both, nice contrast and blushing.

I like the one you pictured above :gj:

Shows can be both a blessing and a curse. A blessing because you can often get a really good deal and find some neat stuff. But a curse because if you buy from someone you haven't heard of, it could be bad. Remember that pretty much anyone can sell at a show - so it doesn't mean that you'll necessarily get a good healthy feeding bp. I'm not saying this to discourage you or others to buy from shows, but to just use caution.

If you really love this mojave, and the guy its coming from has a great rep, then go for it.

a bonus with local breeders: no shipping costs/risks, and if there is a problem they are nearby to help.

All good points, so thank you! Now I just need to decide if I can afford him, LOL... ;)

not sure how far you'd like to travel for a show, but locally we have a reptile shop that's recently gotten a new owner, and they told us that they're planning on holding "Mini" reptile shows every other month. They just had one this past weekend, holding it for the people that couldn't make the San Diego one. It'd be about 2 hours from the city, if you hit traffic. If you want more info let me know ;)

250 is a nice price for a mojo. My local reptile breeder has a "okay" mojo for 250 and because the one you like is so much nicer looking than the one at the shop, I would definately take it :) You had a good eye because that is a really awesome mojo

Could just be the lighting, but I do not really like that Mojo.

As many mojos as there are out there, I think that selective purchasing/breeding is very important.

Just my opinion though, its really up to you.

    Price is good.

Thanks everyone for the replies... I'm still thinking about it, and told the breeder I'd get back to him soon. FYI, he also has this hot 1.0 spider for the same price, and two other male Mojaves:

I'd take this one if he were a girl - just don't know if I want a male spider.
