Mona the monster...
She's actually a sweetheart, but I've never owned such a large snake before - so Mona seems like a beast!! She ate her first meal (since arriving) on Saturday, so I decided to take her out tonight... ain't she purty?? :)
Weighing in at 1779g - that's a big Chanukah cookie, LOL

I used a tape measure after she moved from that position, and she's almost 48 inches (4ft) long...

Re: Mona the monster...
Beautiful snake, I love the name!
My first Ball Pythons name is Mona as well. She is an 05 CH.
Here is a pic of her with her first clutch of eggs she laid last year.

Not sure exactly, but she laid a clutch this past season - so I'm guessing she's an '06 or older? I got her off a breeder (J&J Reptiles) from this site, so we can always ask him! ;)

Wow, how many eggs were there? She's really pretty, and has a very interesting color... is she a normal or morph?
The name Mona/Ramona just popped into my head when I saw her, and seems to fit perfectly - it's a good snakey name, LOL. :) It's also what I wanted to name my cat, but was talked out of it by my roommates (ended up calling her Bindi). Anyway, thanks for the comments and picture!

Re: Mona the monster...
if she were a fish they would classify her as a LUNKER:)

Re: Mona the monster...
Very nice :) Know her age? she's a bit small in length ( in my opinion) for that weight But she is one beautiful hunka cookie ;) :)

Re: Mona the monster...
I love the monsters! The bigger they are the more I love them. BPs are awesome as is, but when they're full grown and just a solid heavy snake, maaaaan. I love it. Sure hatchlings are cute, and sub-adults and 3-4 year olds are cool, but it's the thick bodied ones that put a little strain on your arm when you hold them that I <3. By that time they're so much friendlier too, no? Or is that just my personal experience? Either way, I love your girl!

I'm a city girl, so I had to look up that term... and yes, she would qualify as a "lunker" LOL. :D

Thanks! She's probably between 3-4 years old, but I'd have to ask her breeder to know for sure. So, you think she's a little on the chubby side? I thought the general "rule" was about 500g per foot, so I was actually thinking the opposite. She's only eaten one meal since arriving, of 3 adult mice since they were out of small rats... next week I'll find a rat, and try to get her on a regular schedule/prey. She was living in a breeding rack until now, so hopefully she'll get more svelte with a little exercise. ;) She is a FEISTY one, and has no qualms about cruising around the floor!

Re: Mona the monster...
P.S. That weight was taken 2 days after the meal, so she was a bit full...

Re: Mona the monster...
We have a few big ones- a male and two girls- love them!

Mona says thank you! I don't have much experience with adults, so to be honest I was a bit intimidated at first. I opened the bag when she arrived, and this GIANT snake popped out like "watch out lady, here I come...." LOL. She is definitely a friendly girl, though, and I quickly realized she is completely harmless. I also learned quickly how to hold her, since she squeezes fast if you put her around your neck or arm - works much better to fling her over the shoulder (while supporting the head) like a purse. I haven't handled her too much at this point, but so far I agree the big ones are fun.
Speaking of heavy-bodied snakes, you reminded me of my first time buying one (Delilah). I was looking at Rosy Boas and Corns, then my eyes widened when they brought out a BP... I kept going back & forth, until the owner finally said "I can read people well after all these years, and I knew you'd like a heavy-bodied herp - get a Ball Python." He was right! :)

LOL... yes, she certainly does! The breeder told me she's an aggressive eater, although somewhat shy about it (doesn't like to be watched). We gave her 3 adult mice last Saturday, and she took them down like they were appetizers. :D

Man my biggest female doesnt like to be watched either. I did the zombie dance for her on monday and she wanted nothing to do with it. She was hungry though, but didnt feel like eating from my hands was necessary. I put the ASF 6 inches away from her and as I was sliding the tub in she had him coiled.

Here's to hoping she produces a BIG clutch for me next year... :gj: I'm planning a breeding with Toby, my beautiful little pastel, if he's big enough by that point. I picked Mona for her high white, blushing & reduced pattern, which should match well with a light pastel.

Holy cow!! You didn't get a picture, did you? :weirdface
I wonder what the record is for a BP.......

Re: Mona the monster...
Here's the reason she won't often be allowed around our necks... look at the size of her body versus my neck! And I'm not a tiny woman, LOL.
