I've always pronounced it Axe-an-thick.

Ax-An-Thick was always the way I have said it but the medical dictionary has corrected me. It shows Xanthic as being pronounced Zan-Thick so that would have to make Axanthic Uh-Zan-Thick (or A-Zan-Thick).

A-Zan-Thick is how I say it.

Yes, it's ay-zan-thic, and this is why... In Latin, a- means without, xanth- means yellow, and -ic means having the nature of. So axanthic means without yellow. Think of sexual and asexual reproduction (as in bacteria and fungi) as another example of the prefix a-.

this is for sure one that would change along with where you live. peeps in boston speak way diff than peeps in new orleans and oregon
